Evan Lawday directs an intriguing, dreamlike performance promo for London-based 'alternative/celestial folk' duo Pet Deaths. The video for Love Has Won is a grainy fever dream, shot in a moonlit park with just a torch strapped atop a DSLR. In a world of faceless crooners, porcelain trinkets, and unrefined imagery, we navigate Pet Death's bizarre performance, which falls somewhere between televangelist preachers, sleazy 70’s Lotharios and drunk uncles at a wedding. The video dances between frantic, unrefined shots captured in the heat of the performance and stark, controlled shots of the porcelain bird that appears to loom large over this void-like space the band are trapped in.Immediately haunting and impactful, the video has a nightmarish yet comfortably trippy aesthetic, which is heightened by the effervescent cinematography. Lawday has singlehandly created an absorbing visual for this long dreampop track. But you would probably want to avoid these two if you walked past them at night...
