Fashion photographic/directing entity TORSO moves squarely into the vanguard of music video with an edgy promo for the first release from Charli XCX's new album - in an 'access all areas' extravaganza set at Charles De Gaulle Airport.Having established a reputation on stunning fashion films for Mugler's fashion collections, creative directed by Casey Cadwallader, and others, TORSO's music video debut came for Kali Uchis. Now comes a really big one, for Von dutch, from the superstar singer-songwriter's upcoming album Brat.Arguably in other hands the concept behind the video could be considered rather tacky, with shades of Smack My Bitch Up - Charlie in a sexy fight with a POV stalker/assailant all over the airport, shedding layers of clothing in the process. But there's no doubt who is boss here. TORSO place Charli in a space that works really well for her: fast-moving action, treading a line between glamour and outrage, humour and danger.A big statement of intent for the new album campaign.

Balan Evans directs a touching promo for Eloise's Drunk On A Flight. The video sees the artist sat at the end of a row of characters, waiting to board a flight in a mockup airport. Fragments of narrative from the lyrics are visualised in vignettes between other characters, yet Eloise exudes the emotion of the entire track, poignant and bittersweet, in her performance. Dynamic camerawork and clever moving pieces give the video a dreamlike flourish, and the art direction helps to both sell the location and give the entire concept a larger than life feel."This one was a real feat but it felt like everyone was on the same page from day dot," director Balan Evans says."It’s actually the first big set build I’ve done which had its own new challenges, but we had an incredible team who all brought their own unique style to the film. It all just meshed together in the best possible way."

Raja Virdi's latest video for regular collaborator Holly Humberstone takes her on a truck driven by her best friend - and subject of the song.Trawling up and down a moving arctic lorry, Humberstone gives an exhilarating performance, whilst best friend Scarlett drives it down an airport runway.“I really love the video for this track, the song is about my bestie Scarlett so she had to be in the video - especially after being named an ‘emotional grim reaper’" Humberstone explains. "The two of us break into an airport hanger, steal and spray paint an arctic truck, then I perform on the back of it as Scar drives it down the runway. It was honestly the most fun and so jokes. I was clinging on as I was being thrown about. If you look closely the guitar I throw off the truck is the same one from my very first video for Deep End and the banners were at my London shows at O’Meara!!"I really hope it feels as empowering to watch as it did to be on the back of it performing!! Loved how ironic the ‘bad British weather’ line is when we got the nicest sunset going for the video.”Breathtaking and liberating in equal measure, Raja and Holly have knocked it out the park once again.

A delightful animated video by the talented Eric Power for singer-songwriter Paul Jacks, turning the everyday and largely mundane experience of taking a plane flight into a work of art.Power's method, as with much of his work, is the handcrafted use of paper cutouts to create character and the surrounding world, which is both immediately recognisable but also unique.Power says: "The song spoke to my own wanderlust, so I chose to explore a character who is seemingly on an endless journey. I wondered what the repercussions would be of a life spent in the air. Would everything begin to bleed together? I opted to dive into abstraction to explore these ideas. Unlike many videos I’ve directed, I decided not to focus heavily on a narrative structure. This ended up being a very challenging project to wrap my head around, but I am quite pleased with the results of my experimentation.” [from Director's Notes]
