Phillip Youmans has crafted a poignant portrait of artistry and resilience for Lil Nas X.

The video for World’s Greatest weaves childhood memories with expressive dance and cinematic texture, crafting an intimate reflection on the artist’s path to self-discovery in tribute to his late mother, Tameka Hill.

It feels like we are entering the place where Lil Nas X began - emphasised by the device of a childhood version of Nas intercut with the current Nas, striving to reach his potential. Poetic, nuanced, and steeped in keen observation, it's an uplifting and infectious celebration of life, artistry and the places that shape us.

it also represents a real step-change from the Lil Nas X we have seen in his music videos of the past few years. It's a different side of his personality, arguably more vulnerable, but very likeable. Crucially it also feels authentic, which is a real tribute to the quality of the filmmaking. Above all, Phillip Youmans' signature in terms of the direction is unmistakeable.
