The Chemical Brothers 'No Reason' by Smith & Lyall
Promonews - 21st Mar 2023
Adam Smith and Marcus Lyall, collectively known as Smith & Lyall, have unveiled a captivating new visualizer for the latest single No Reason by The Chemical Brothers.
With a longstanding collaboration spanning over 25 years, the duo has been instrumental in crafting the live shows and has contributed to various aspects such as stage design, lighting design, and filmmaking. Once again, Smith & Lyall were summoned to bring their distinctive vision to the project.
The video for No Reason features a set of hyper-vibrant characters who march and move in an abdurdist way, multiplied into a hypnotic pattern on-screen.
Smith and Lyall's inspiration for this visualizer - dubbed the Neon Marching Band Video - draws from multiple sources, including the rhythmic drum rolls reminiscent of military style, the iconic musical film Sweet Charity, the comedic absurdity of Monty Python's 'Ministry of Silly Walks', and the dynamic movements of David Byrne in early Talking Heads music videos.
