Adam Smith and Marcus Lyall, collectively known as Smith &amp; Lyall, have unveiled a captivating new visualizer for the latest single No Reason&nbsp;by The Chemical Brothers.With a longstanding collaboration spanning over 25 years, the duo has been instrumental in crafting the live shows and has contributed to various aspects such as stage design, lighting design, and filmmaking. Adam Smith and&nbsp;Marcus Lyall's latest for The Chemical Brothers is a shot of lightning from the arm - a maverick, Japanese sci-fi B-movie sent from the future.&nbsp;A mousey businesswoman transforms into an intergalactic superhero to fight craterous monsters, furry cyborgs and a robot wizard. And there's Aurora too, dressed like Robot Boy.Lyall and Smith’s video has the renegade spirit of a cult movie. There are shades of&nbsp;Kung Fury, the low-budget Youtube movie that spawned an entire genre. And also of Ed Wood, the eccentric 1950s filmmaker, who directed the camp classic Plan 9 from Outer Space (It’s nice to imagine that if Wood were resurrected today, handed a 4K camera and a box full of lycra, he would have tried to make Eve of Destruction).The real hallmark of a Chemical Brothers video is a frenetic harmony of music, choreograph and editing. This is a shining example. The video is exhausting in the best way: no beat, bar or lyric goes by without a punch, a strobe or a spark. The costume design is also top-tier.&nbsp;The characters are not only original and impressive, they are also charmingly homemade, with fantastic costume design by Katie Tabor.And the sheer directness of the direction is best explained by the relationship that Smith and Lyall&nbsp;have with Tom and Ed of the ChemBros. Individually the pair work on very different things: Lyall creates light installations in grand public spaces; Smith is the legendary director of the band’s own Galvanize, as well as some of the best-loved episodes of Doctor Who and Skins.&nbsp;As a team they&nbsp;have been making the band's distinctive live visuals for years. And the Eve Of Destruction video was originally created as visuals for their live show.Best live visuals ever?

But now we have a new single called Aggression, and Mark has come up with something far darker to accompany the Birmingham band's gloomy assessment of English life. It's a lurid nighttime landscape of drunkenness, sex, violence and fast food, a scattershot comic horror, like a modern Hogarthian look at the underbelly of middle England - with a nod to both the classic Barney Bubbles-directed video for The Specials' Ghost Town, and Thriller...

"I guess you could've gone a number of ways with a video for Aggression, but I loved the idea of Gareth in a crap Midlands town on a Friday night, trying to get a pizza.
"Misty's are a Midlands band and with Aggression's ska vibe the obvious reference was The Specials' 'Ghost Town'. Especially being as we seem to be living in new Ghost Town times. But I didn't want to get too depressing or political, I was trying to channel the spirit of 'Ghost Town', Robin Askwith movies and 'Thriller'.
"In actual fact it was shot in a number of crap Midlands towns, around eight in all, and the shoot felt more like 'Apocalypse Now'. We had the most rain on record, one of our actors had a stroke and the budget just spiralled, from £500 to £850.

"The most difficult part was the chip shop. We've no connections in the chip shop world and the one chippy who said yes would only let us film when they were open. We picked a quiet night but it wasn't quiet at all, and definitely not an ideal situation to film a girl fight. Well, unless you want to film an actual girl fight. Instead of being enamoured by the Hollywood glamour of it all, customers were tripping over our track and saying, 'What the fuck is going on I'm trying to get pie and chips for my children.'..."

Bringing new meaning to the term 'elevator music', Jesse John Jenkins shoots The Vaccines riding a lift where they manage to not only perform catchy new song Teenage Icon with all their equipment, they also transform into teen-friendly female and/or androgynous versions of themselves in a parallel universe-cum-lift.
Following his signing to Partizan and coming hot on the heels of his lovely video for The Vaccines' <a href="http://www.promonews.tv/2012/06/15/the-vaccines-no-hope-jesse-john-jenkins-now-signed-partizan/" target="_blank">No Hope</a>, Jesse coaxes a spirited (if somewhat claustrophobic) performance out of the West London fourpiece - and their gorgeous counterparts. 
The opening and closing sequences were shot in the municipal magnificence of Wandsworth Town Hall, and the performances at Malcolm Ryan Studios. Good stuff.

Dynamic Icelandic duo Arni + Kinski return to music video to take Florence's new pre-Raphaelite look and give it a quasi-1930s makeover for Florence + The Machine's No Light No Light. 
It sees Florence being hounded by a 'neon pink voodoo gremlin', while teetering on the edge of a New York skyscraper, while a choir sings in a cathedral below.
Shot mainly in West London at St Augustine's Church on Kilburn High Road, the epic and dramatic theme matches the equally dramatic pounding soundtrack.
