James Arthur 'SOS' by KC Locke
Rob Ulitski - 1st Nov 2021
James Arthur is a guiding light in KC Locke's poignant promo for SOS.
Stumbling through Liverpool's Tobacco Docks at night, champagne bottle in hand, concerned residents begin to peek out of their windows, checking in on Arthur.
They congregate behind him, and shortly afterwards, he lights a flare which acts as a guide for all of these lost souls. And when he breaks down and it all becomes too much for him, various characters spark their own flares, proving that we all have a part to play in raising each other up in society.
Heartfelt and glossy, it's a trademark emotional affair from Arthur, with the weight of KC Locke and team's unique vision pushing it to the next level.
KC LOCKE:
I always wanted to shoot in the Tobacco Docks in Liverpool.
"It was a pleasure to work with James Arthur, and bring the story of SOS vision to life. I always wanted to shoot in the Tobacco Docks in Liverpool and this was the perfect opportunity to make it happen!
"The team worked really hard behind the scenes pulling this ambitious idea together! Big thanks to Lewis Nicholson for moving mountains, and Ella [Taylor-Palfrey] and the rest of the production and location team for holding it down.
"Busy building site by day - Victorian street by night, Jenny O’Sullivan and her art team and SFX departments really did an amazing job bringing the world to life with fire, smoke and rain, while Pieter [Snyman, DoP] and our lighting team Dropcity pulled out all the stops in making this video as epic as possible!
"Another big thanks to the camera team for battling it out in the cold and wet while keeping the cameras rolling. Everyone on the shoot below worked really hard and I am very proud!
"Please enjoy SOS - with another seamless edit from Jamil."
