Stand Atlantic 'Jurassic Park' by Lewis Cater
Rob Ulitski - 6th July 2020
Lewis Cater directs a vibrant video for Australian pop-punk outfit Stand Atlantic's Jurassic Park.
The visual follows lead singer Bon, as she travels through series of surreal, twisted rooms, finding herself in a number of uncomfortable scenarios.
A mix between a hotel location and a game show gone wrong, the pastel-washed art direction sugarcoats a darker underbelly - without quite revealing the truth of what lurks beneath.
DoP Lorenzo Levrini matches the hectic and confused energy of the concept with plenty of Dutch angles and hyperactive camera movement, and the 'to be revealed' tag at the end of the video promises a deeper dive into the world Cater has created, next time around...
LEWIS CATER:
"Jurassic Park is the first of two videos. It paints the picture of a perfect, visually aesthetic world and forces the viewer to watch through rose-tinted glasses. It's clear that Bon is seeing something else, but we can't see through the sugarcoating.
"The video finishes with a teaser that hints to the world in which Bon may have seen throughout, and a perspective which will be revealed in the follow-up video."
