Pa Salieu 'Betty' by Rollo Jackson
Rollo Jackson directs a mesmerising performance visual for newcomer Pa Salieu's Betty.
Opening in an exterior location under a strangely-hued pink sky, the video is formed of dynamic performance setups, spectacular VFX work -including the artist atop several 3D body parts- and a lo-fi performance captured on an infrared camera.
The lyrical content and visual concept are very much open to interpretation and deeper insight. Salieu wrote the track to explore both the vibrance and difficulty of black life, against the backdrop of perpetual violence and grief in his lived experiences, and these themes punctuate the video throughout.
