Prep ft. Anna Of The North 'Over' by Tim Fox
Rob Ulitski - 23rd Jan 2020
Tim Fox explores the convenience of staying in a relationship long after the love has faded in his video for the smooth-indie of Prep's Over.Â
Fox focusses upon a wealthy couple who's marriage has been running on empty for years. They never separated and still live in the same house - and they are also experts at keeping up appearances. But under the surface there's tension, unhappiness and a whole lot of dirty secrets.
The offbeat visual explores the idea of selflessly enjoying your freedom and alone time, and the cracks it can create in a partnership. Lead actors have great physical presence and style - funny, but also tragic, testing the waters of their own personal fantasies but never brave enough to cut the cord.
Fox's video - shot in a suitably glitzy Surrey property - is imaginative and wacky - and maybe a little bit sad.
TIM FOX:
By the end of the video I want people to understand who these people are and what they are about.Â
"Every music video for me is a chance to try something new and focus on developing my filmmaking skills. For this one I wanted to focus on creating characters with depth and explore the contrast between how people present themselves and how they feel inside. By the end of the video I want people to understand who these people are and what they are about. A difficult task in the three and a half minutes of the song.
"The video has a dark tone to it, something I find myself gravitating towards constantly. I much prefer villains to heroes, I find them far more interesting. Especially when you get a glimpse of their vulnerability and human side."
