Gabi'el 'Wow' by Gwil Doe
Rob Ulitski - 13th Nov 2019
Gwil Doe is back behind the camera with this stripped-back and saucy promo for rising star Gabi’el.
Shot in a minimalist monochrome style, the sharp and quirky Gabi'el steals the show in bondage-esque latex costumes and impressive choreography and body contortion.
The pace is frenetic, and the use of lip-sync trickery by slowing down the track and ramping it up in the edit creates a futuristic and otherworldy vibe. And Jaime Ackroyd's high contrast cinematography utilises a white infinity cove alongside select props and mise-en-scène, pushing the barebones setup to ambitious heights.
“I used my limitations as an opportunity to see how creative I could be with very little," says Doe. "I want to maximise the minimal.” And that’s exactly what he has done.
