Charlie Puth 'Mother' by Dawit N.M.

Mum's the word in Dawit N.M.'s video for Charlie Puth's Mother.
Focused on the formative years where love is an exciting new concept, and drinking and smoking with friends for hours is the best way to pass time, Mother is a fly-on-the-wall look at a group of teens having the time of their lives.
Puth sings about the dangers of taking him home to meet your mother, but interestingly he stands out of a great deal of the action in this video. He is at the very same locations as the group in the narrative, but usually isolated or in a different timeline. It feels appropriate for someone who is growing up and reflecting on his career so far, but in a fun and nostalgic way, instead of a wistful yearning.
DoP Drew Bienemann keeps the action flowing with varied camera movements and tricks, including a 360 degree rotating camera inside the car, which allows for a full view of the mayhem that ensues as they party down the road. Feel-good and light-hearted, this is Puth at his strongest and most confident - and a strong move into pop by Dawit N.M., who came to our attention earlier this year via his fine 'Visual EP' for Mareba's The Jungle Is The Only Way Out.
