As well recently directing the video for Beck's Hyperlife/Uneventful Days - featuring Tessa Thompson and Evan Rachel Wood - Dev Hynes has also self-directed the video for Dark & Handsome, a track from his own recent mixtape Angel's Pulse, in his musical guise as Blood Orange.

This is a minimal but effective affair featuring Hynes's own performance intercut with a tracking shot of a group of African-American schoolkids running happily along a beach, and other well composed vignettes, delightfully shot by DoP Ben Carey.

There's also an appearance from guest star Toro y Moi - making a cameo appearance as a video within the video, on an iPhone. But the overall effect is one of poignant nostalgia - exactly the feeling evoked by this sweetly soulful track.
