Jamie Thraves delivers a compelling double-feature for The All-American Rejects.

After proving his acting chops in Amazon's hit show Preacher, this complex story of a double life comes as no problem to the band's frontman Tyson Ritter. We first meet Ritter as Betsy - a sex worker on the streets. She gets arrested and escapes via a wonderfully choreographed street dance - with choreography by Michael Rooney. At this point Betsy becomes Robert - a wealthy man who seems to have it all, or at least makes it his business to appear as if he does.

Robert's surprise party becomes a melancholy affair in which he seems completely out of his comfort zone, and the two halves of the video become a study in identity and loneliness. Can Robert stand to spend time with anybody if money isn't being exchanged? Is it really all in his head? Thraves lets the work say whatever it likes to you and makes you sit there and contemplate it.
