Eighth Air 'Can't Move' by Aćim Vasić
Luke Bather - 5th July 2017
Aćim Vasić's clip for Serbian duo Eighth Air is a cleverly composed endless scroll of self-reflection.
There's a lot going on in this clip - which is laid presented in the dimensions of a phone screen and scrolls through a very Instagram-like app. The song's lyrics address the longterm (and ultimately successful) struggle with an eating disorder by singer Lena Kuzmanović – Vasić's sister – and as we scroll through her photos we see that life played out in fragmented ways, alongside happier and more vibrant images.
It's a cleverly executed storytelling device by the Paris-based Vasić, who continues to show – as with his first Eighth Air clip, for I Will Be Better – a real knack of executing strong visual ideas on limited means.
