Little Simz 'Stillness In Wonderland' by Jeremy Cole
Luke Bather - 20th Dec 2016
Little Simz and Jeremy Cole collaborate on the ambitious 15-minute film Stillness in Wonderland.
Shot in the ruins of a dilapidated house over the course of two days, performances go hand-in-hand with monologues as Little Simz tries to escape herself to learn more about who she is. The run-down hall of mirrors is littered with visual metaphors and the slow, woozy camera movements are designed to disorient the viewer leaving them just as lost in this unconscious maze.
JEREMY COLE:
"Shot over two days entirely in one location, the film is influenced by the album's themes of inner conflict as we wander through a house representative of Little Simz's subconscious. The film features performances from a handful of tracks as we follow her through an impossible collection of rooms dressed by her memories and fears.
"At the core of the story is a character trapped in the conflict of needing to escape reality to find the truth."
