The Cowboy of Compton patrols the midnight streets in Julien + Adrien's clip for Caravan Palace.

Whilst stories of crime and vigilante justice in California's Compton neighbourhoods are far from rare, especially within the context of a music video, Julien + Adrien manage a fresh take on the narrative. Quite possibly inspired by the real cowboys of Compton, as seen in this report from the Associated Press, there's certainly a romantic element to the concept of a vigilante on horseback sweeping criminals up by night. It sure beats Batman.

With gorgeous day and night cinematography showing both criminals and crimefighters as masters of their domain, until the two intersect the clip manages to be subtle with a very grand idea.
