Birdy 'Words' by BISON
David Knight - 21st June 2016
Birdy's haunting ballad Words is destined to be one of her most successful songs, and the video directed by Dave Bullivant aka BISON gives her a suitably ghostly presence, shrouded in smoke in various locations, and in a succession of background colours.
The video was shot at the artist's own family home in Hampshire, a setting which gave BISON the scope to develop Birdy's gothic-inclined image into something akin to a Pre Raphaelite tragic heroine. Â
BISON (DAVE BULLIVANT):
"I’d originally written this idea to shoot in the studio, but Birdy and I had a long chat about a week before the shoot and she told me about her family home that had loads of these really interesting outbuildings surrounding it. I popped down to the south coast to have a look around and fell in love with the space, so re-wrote the idea to work there.
"It’s never easy working with smoke, but doing it on a windy day in a greenhouse with a lot of panes missing was a challenge, but Mother Nature nailed her cues on the day so we were all good."
