Dave Bullivant's&nbsp;second video for DJ producer legend Bonobo (aka Simon Green) follows <a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2016/11/07/bonobo-kerala-bison/44522" target="_blank">his&nbsp;first one</a> in focussing on a performance through a very distinctive visual prism.For Otomo, roller skater Harrison Peterkin speeds through cityscapes and stunning natural settings, often distorted through the lens of a 360 camera.&nbsp;The video was shot over three days in South Africa, an absorbing visual for a hypnotic track.

Knucklehead have announced the signing of director and photographer Dave Bullivant (above) to their roster in London and Amsterdam for music videos and commercial projects.Bullivant has nearly ten years directing experience, with&nbsp;music video credits for London Grammar, Bonobo, Friendly Fires, George Ezra and more. His commercial clients include BMW, Samsung, O2, Three Mobile, Nike and Farmdrop.Originally directing in the directing duo Bison, Bullivant assumed the Bison monicker as a solo director in 2015, before starting to direct under his own name in the past year or so. He has also returned to music videos in a big way in 2021, reuniting with London Grammar to direct a trio of videos for tracks from their new album, including the acclaimed video for America.His latest video is his second for DJ/producer Bonobo (aka Simon Green) for the track <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=39NfSiXXgcE" target="_blank">Otomo</a>, featuring O'Flynn, from the forthcoming new album. It was shot over&nbsp;three days in South Africa using a 360 camera that follows roller skater Harrison Peterkin as he glides through stunning natural settings and cityscapes.&nbsp;"I’m excited to get in to bed with Knucklehead," declares Bullivant.&nbsp;"They seem like a genuinely decent bunch who evidently make f*cking great work. Long may that continue - but with me now, please."

Dave Bullivant directs a profound promo for London Grammar's America.&nbsp;The video opens with London Grammar vocalist&nbsp;Hannah Reid sat at the counter of an American-style diner, as the camera begins to pan left and right.&nbsp;The track kicks in, and apparitions of everyday activity appear in the revealing camera movements. As the haunting hustle and bustle unravel in slow motion, the focus stays on Reid's performance, creating a contrasting, stylistic aesthetic.&nbsp;Beautifully shot by DoP&nbsp;Jaime Ackroyd and produced by Joseph J. Goldman, the video is a&nbsp;tour de force&nbsp;of creativity, and a great addition to the body of work by Bullivant for London Grammar.&nbsp;

Siah is under heavy&nbsp;surveillance in Lucrecia Taormina's video for Ain't Stoppin.&nbsp;Set in a&nbsp;café, - with an enigmatic&nbsp;voiceover which tops and tails the concept - the video presents&nbsp;an abstract, Tarantino-esque vignette following a wanted man.&nbsp;Siah sets up shop at the café, and as he orders a&nbsp;smorgasbord of coffee and snacks, a group of twenty men slowly filter in to keep a close eye on his every movement.&nbsp;Switching from the overtly surreal aesthetic seen in recent videos for Ashnikko and Bree Runway, this video still has a heavy dose of Taormina's weird fantasy vibes, and works brilliantly as a standalone visual for the track.&nbsp;And of course, if you haven't heard our talk with Lucrecia Taormina yet as part of The Promonews Podcast, <a href="https://open.spotify.com/episode/537iE9VbGYrFMlMwZJIAM1?si=WXM7BDjsQAKwvPW6EPQHcg&amp;dl_branch=1">be sure to click through and take a listen!&nbsp;</a>

As George Ezra paces around his bedroom, water seeps under the door - and soon the room is quickly filling up with water. It&#39;s a startling and gripping scenario for the video for Hold My Girl, directed by Dave Bullivant, aka Bison.It&#39;s certainly not the easy-going and uplifting vibe that we usually get from the usual George Ezra music video, but it fits with the tone of the song, which gives the sense of a man who&#39;s time is quickly running out. And that&#39;s exactly what&#39;s happening before our eyes in the video.By all accounts, this was a very difficult shoot to pull off. Dave Bullivant, aka Bison,&nbsp;makes a haunting and peculiar greyscale video for Stevie Parker.Created using 3D mapping, but not building the base layer, the video is an ethereal performance from Parker where depth is implied through the fuzzy shadows that surround her. With one multicoloured&nbsp;character sprinting through the otherwise desaturated world, there&#39;s a sense of being followed or hunted (in line with the song&#39;s title), making for a tense edge to the blurred serenity of the clip&#39;s aesthetic.

London Grammar and Bison brought a showstopper to the table over the seasonal break with Rooting For You.Shot on 35mm and lit from above entirely with helium lights, this gorgeous live video is an exercise in minimal one-take perfection. The first half of the track sees singer Hannah Reid stand alone in a wash of darkness as the camera floats around her acapella performance, before light fills the room and reveals a full orchestral backing.A nuanced set of camera movements and understated lighting design help to accentuate the scale and the intimacy of various parts of this haunting performance.

Bonobo soundtracks The Rapture in this head-spinning, hyper-detailed video by Dave Bullivant, aka BISON.With erratic, repetitive cuts showing a panicked woman, played by Gemma Arterton, running through London during what appears to be The Ascension, you could be forgiven for thinking that the video starts and ends with this clever editing concept. You would, however, be very wrong.Buried within the frames of this video are tons of visual curiosities, Easter eggs and elements of supernatural foreshadowing that show both an incredible attention to detail, and Bison&#39;s smart willingness to exploit the average viewer&#39;s inability to notice subtle changes on a first viewing.&nbsp;

31 year old&nbsp;Dave Bullivant is a director and photographer&nbsp;who goes by the name BISON. I just remember being&nbsp;behind a false wall that was full of holes wiggling a 10k&nbsp;around to make the shafts of light move. Maths.</blockquote>What equipment do you rely on most to do your job?&nbsp;I would say my headphones. From the moment a track&nbsp;comes in until the day it delivers I have the track on a pretty&nbsp;much constant loop.Best moment, or fondest memory, of your career thus far?&nbsp;I spent the first 5 years of my directing career as a duo with&nbsp;Owen Silverwood, who has now moved on to concentrate on&nbsp;his stills. Rosie Lowe is always a&nbsp;pleasure to work with and it was a really enjoyable process&nbsp;all round. Then the Real Lies job was a huge departure from&nbsp;the normal BISON job. Not in a studio and with no effects or&nbsp;weird camera set ups whatsoever. &nbsp;I really wanted to push&nbsp;myself in a totally different form of film making. It was a lot&nbsp;of fun, especially with the older gentleman who had partied&nbsp;a little too hard and decided to stroke, and lick, the camera&nbsp;at 4am on Commercial Road.[imgtoken data:2]What&rsquo;s the Next Big Thing you&rsquo;re working on?&nbsp;Trying to get a word in edgeways with&nbsp;John Hassay.What would most improve your life?&nbsp;Another 8 hours in the day.&nbsp;Biggest frustration?&nbsp;The pitching process. There are too many directing on tracks&nbsp;these days, and there is a general lack of communication&nbsp;once you submit a pitch.<blockquote>My slightly rouge idea is that record companies should pay for pitches, as it would focus&nbsp;everyone&#39;s mind a little bit.</blockquote>The labels would ask fewer&nbsp;directors, and it would make it more worthwhile for the&nbsp;directors to spend more time on the treatments. I think the&nbsp;overall quality would rise. But that ain&rsquo;t ever gonna happen&nbsp;is it?What&rsquo;s the big issue or issues facing music video makers&nbsp;right now?&nbsp;I&rsquo;m sure everyone says the&nbsp;same but the size/lack of&nbsp;budgets makes it really tough to make ideas come to life.&nbsp;That, and the sheer volume of directors producing work&nbsp;means it can be hard to make yourself known.Person you most admire?&nbsp;Stanley Kubrick. Just incredible work.What advice would you give to someone starting out in&nbsp;music video production?&nbsp;Get yourself on any&nbsp;shoot that you can. Work as hard as you&nbsp;can on the day, but keep watching and learning. You can&nbsp; learn so much from just being present on a set.Any hot tips on who will be the future stars in music video in&nbsp;the next couple of years &ndash; directors or otherwise?&nbsp;Who knows.
