Culture Shock 'City Lights' by M-I-E
Cat Velez - 29th Apr 2015
Versatile creative studio M-I-E work across all manner of moving image techniques including live action and 2D as well as 3D animation and a range of VFX techniques. And their latest work for drum & bass artist Culture Shock's highly anticipated track City Lights displays the full range of their expertise.
This brilliantly executed, jaw-dropping spectacle mixes live action with some serious amounts of VFX, as an astronaut clad in an ultra-slick space suit freefalls towards Earth, before firing her boot-boosters to guide her descent to the bright lights of New York, like a female version of Robert Downey Jr aka Tony Stark aka Iron Man.
No explanation is given as to her motivations or her story, yet the sequence grips the viewer due to the pure adrenaline of her high-speed, perilous fall to Earth.
