In this respect, the casting of Ray Liotta is an inspired move. He transmits the growing crisis of a complex character driven to the brink by blotting out his loneliness with booze, girls, more booze - and riding his horse indoors.
If Ray hasn't played this sort of role in a movie, perhaps somebody should write it for him...
