The Script 'Man On A Wire' by Frank Borin
Cat Velez - 12th Mar 2015
What a feat! Frank Borin's music video for The Script's Man On A Wire essentially accepts the challenge offered by the name of the song, and turns it into reality. And although the idea of placing the talent on a real tightrope, suspended over 100 ft above the streets of Cape Town, seems too far-fetched, too dangerous, and too terrifying to be seriously considered, that is what Frank and his team have done here.
Singer Danny O'Donoghue really is on that tightrope, while drummer Glen Power has his back to a hundred-plus foot drop, while guitarist Mark Sheehan stands on the side of a building. Working alongside FAMILIA in the UK and Farm Films in South Africa to realise the vision, the treatment evolved into an epic shoot involving helicopters, technocranes and wirework.
Obviously it was completely safe, but you have to say The Script are a brave bunch (or possibly mad) for even considering doing this stuff. Hats off and big respect to all concerned... Â
