FKA twigs shows she's in complete control, even when rendered immobile by the Japanese art of rope bondage known as Shibari (or possibly Kinbaku), as the director of the video for Pendulum. It's a work of startling and provocative imagery, that shows the lengths that twigs is prepared to go for her art.

Now signed as a director to Academy +, in the latest issue of Creative Review twigs call this "the biggest creative thing I’ve ever done... It’s a complete 360 involvement in terms of creativity”. And she managed to tolerate impossible positions that experienced practitioners can hold for minutes.

The VFX element came about through a collaboration with Lewis Saunders at One of Us, one of the VFX artists on fellow Academy director Jon Glazer’s BAFTA-nominated feature, Under The Skin. The video for Pendulum follows the online spot for Google Glass which Twigs also directed - its also beautifully graded by Julien Biard at Finish, who also worked on the Google Glass film.
