Marilyn Manson 'Deep Six' by Bart Hess

Bart Hess has established his reputation in innovative textile design, blurring the boundary between textile and skin with his use of futuristic materials – and leading to him working with the likes of Lady Gaga and Nick Knight. Now he's directed the video for Deep Six, from Marilyn Manson's upcoming album The Pale Emperor, combining analogue and digital techniques to create a giant worm-like creatures that even the fearsome Marilyn is unable to resist.
These creatures pulse and grow in rhythm to the track, slither and sheath tightly around naked flesh to graphic, surreal, and sexy effect. A cool shift away by the old shockmeister Manson from the usual gothic gloom.
BART HESS:
"Inspired by the song's lyrics I wanted to generate creatures that feel as if they’re partly made of pulsating water, that would slither through space on the rhythm of the track. These worm- and snake-like creatures swallow bodies on their path and taking them into a black void, where the bodies become the worms themselves.
"Playing with the tactility of the material I wanted to create something that is partly animalistic and inanimate, working without the use of 3D renderings. The technique is a combination of analog and digital, where an objects gets repeated in space, therefore showing its movement in time."
