"Lover is a track with a massive sound and an impossibly catchy rhythm. After a discussion with Sons and Lovers, we decided to tell a universal story about young love. We wanted to show a couple who were deeply in love with each other, but shared a volatile and unpredictable relationship. They should bring the best and the worst out of each other, as love tends to have the habit of doing.  

"Taking influence from the grittiness of ‘Kids’ I wanted to combine this with something very stylized, precise, grandiose and unexpected…which is where the dancing comes in.  I’ve wanted to use capoeira and contact dance styles within a narrative for some time and this was a perfect opportunity to demonstrate emotional conflict with physical movement".
