Conventional Thought 'Dangers' by Paul Kamuf
Paul Kamuf has given the plot of Weird Science a contemporary edge in his entertaining video for Conventional Thought's Dangers.
Two teenage lads attempt to create their perfect woman - who happens to be jet-black – via 3D printing. And they get much more than they bargained for.
PAUL KAMUF: "The unique look of the girls was what drove this video, followed closely by keeping a cohesive story around them. The jet black girls were a look I was thinking of for some time. I was interested in the idea of subtracting as much as possible from the face and form and then augmenting it with contrast and color.
"The story and the characters were fun to create as well, and made a huge difference between this being an abstract, stylish video and something with a reason to keep watching.
"I took visual inspiration from the Baseball Furies from The Warriors, Johnny Hardstaff, various make-up artists, actual 3D Printers and more. We set up this video to capture as much of the girls' look as we could, in-camera. I am very happy to say that the final look of the girls was exactly what I wanted to achieve."
