And this concept is explored through quick-fire conceptual setups, absorbing performance and a witty dialogue-only section that succinctly sums up the problem.&nbsp;This sees ENNY and Otis Dominique collaborating again after the excellent Peng Black Girls video, putting&nbsp;a lighthearted, romcom-influenced spin on the important matter of Love, and it's very nicely done. Ned Botwood directs a big-hearted love letter to the West Country, by way of the American West for Metronomy frontman&nbsp;Joseph Mount's wonderful duet with Katy J Pearson for Love Factory.This song is an absolute peach, and the video highlights the special chemistry that is created by bringing fellow west country artist Pearson on board. Botwood channels the visuals from 1960s US TV variety shows, and the legendary&nbsp;performances by Loretta Lynn, Dolly Parton and June Carter, blending&nbsp;British and American rural iconography, superimposing Katy and Joseph into sweeping Devon landscapes.Shot with a distinctly American flavour by DP Jamie Harding, the video trades prairie grass for wheat stubble and wide highways for narrow country lanes. The landscapes were captured over a sunset-chasing road trip through the South Hams in Jamie’s van.[imgtoken data:1]Ned, Jamie and editor Kevin Corry worked to recreate a variety of old-school televisual devices. Shooting country vistas to line up with studio performances, then using a combination of back projection, black negative space and lo-fi blending effects to merge them together.Eagle-eyed viewers will also spot a handful of homages to American cult classics, including Paris Texas, My Own Private Idaho and The Night of the Hunter. “What I love about this song is that it just sounds like it’s always been around, like an old standard on the radio," says Botwood.&nbsp;"It made me think of that golden age of country performances on TV in the late ’60s. Those variety hours like Kraft Music Hall and The Porter Wagoner Show.[imgtoken data:2]"Those shows really threw everything at the wall. All those charmingly janky sets and camera effects. Dolly Parton playing her Grammer guitar on a plastic porch, or Loretta Lynn superimposed onto rural Kentucky, or truly weird images like three disembodied Peggy Lee heads trading lyrics in different corners of the screen.“So much country music is about *home*. And if you absorb enough US culture, you can end up with this weird nostalgia for a rural heartland you’ve never actually been to. But it does make sense. When Dolly sings about her ‘Tennessee Mountain Home’, you understand that feeling instinctively, even if you’ve only been as close as the West Country. Katy, Joe and I are all connected to Devon. And sometimes when you’re down there, on the right day and in the right light, it really does look like the American prairie.”“Metronomy and Katy are two of my big indie heroes. So I was very sweaty when the email arrived! But I had the nicest team. Shoutout to Jamie Harding, who took me and his Arriflex sunset-chasing in Devon for two days. It's no mean feat to match the scale and ambition of Introvert, the first track from Little Simz's forthcoming&nbsp;second album. But Salomon Ligthelm has done it with this extraordinarily powerful video - imaginative, inspirational and, above all, just as&nbsp;epic as the song.Introvert is&nbsp;visceral essay about black people's lives,&nbsp;fuelled by fear,&nbsp;exhaustion, frustration and political awakening. Ligthelm's brilliant work captures the essence of the powerful emotion driving Simz's track with a stunning collage of choreography, performance, archival news footage, classical painting, home movies, and a brilliant sense of Simz's home city.The video was shot across a range of London locations, including some very grand ones -&nbsp;the Natural History Museum and Wallace Collection, as well as Peckham and Crystal Palace sports complex. Ligthelm uses a&nbsp;chopped-up, collaged structure to reflect the landscape it maps, with a succession of stunning images and sequences, shot on a mix of formats - but&nbsp;predominantly Super 16mm and 4-perf 35mm film.Ligthelm first worked with Simz on the&nbsp;Top Boy&nbsp;promo for season 3, and at the end of 2020 they talked about collaborating on a video together for her new music. The result, Ligthelm's first work since joining Prettybird in London,&nbsp;is an absolute classic of the form, where every department has excelled.Wonderfully shot by&nbsp;Joel Honeywell, brilliantly edited by Elise Butt, the riveting combination of photography, choreography and editorial, as well as direction and performance, echoes the work of director Mark Romanek, and Beyoncé, no less. Will Dohrn's searingly intense video for IDLES employs a brilliant visual device to tell several parallel stories of life on the edge in modern Britain.It's so rare to see something which takes the familiar and bring a completely fresh, and instantly identifiable perspective. This is one of those occasions, as Dohrn's camera effectively becomes each protagonist, looking downwards at their own right hand as they go about their daily business.Against the incendary aggression of WAR, the director cuts kinetically between the stories, but building up a tapestry of gritty lives, grim outlooks and, as the camera spirals upwards in the final stage, human tragedy.You will need to watch again (and again) to discern each progression - and that is a key element to the success of this thrilling video which is, conversely also immediately impactful. With an execution as strong and inventive as the concept, it's certainly up there as one of the best music videos of the year so far.

Tobias Pichler reunites with Austrian producer&nbsp;filous (aka&nbsp;Matthias Oldofredi) for his collab with Brit indie&nbsp;stalwarts&nbsp;The Kooks, and another outing of silliness, with perhaps something more profound lurking in there somewhere.For the previous Pichler-directed video for <a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2019/09/02/filous-x-ashe-monday-tobias-pichler/60512" target="_blank">Monday</a>, filous played Percy,&nbsp;a shy and awkward lad on a dating show.&nbsp;For Hey Love, everyone is decked out in 18th century finery, and filous plays the enthusiastic&nbsp;conductor of a musical performance - by The Kooks.&nbsp;It begins with Kooks' frontman Luke Pritchard wondering why he is in period costume, and what he has let himself in for. He remains&nbsp;unconvinced as they begin,&nbsp;but filous'&nbsp;outgoing Amadeus-like enthusiasm as he conducts the band is unreserved - and&nbsp;it makes it's mark&nbsp;on their performance.&nbsp;Turns out a conductor has quite a lot in common with a producer.
