Salomon Ligthelm reunites&nbsp;with Little Simz on the conceptual and visually powerful music video for her new track Flood.This is Ligthelm's first music video since directing <a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2021/04/27/little-simz-introvert-salomon-ligthelm/70595" target="_blank">Simz's video for Introvert</a> in 2021. That was a huge statement heralding the next chapter in Simz's musical progress. Now nearly four years later, the video for Flood promises to perform a similar role, prompting a buzz of anticipation for her next album.&nbsp;&nbsp;Featuring Obongjayar and Moonchild Sanelly, the video for Flood&nbsp;is a hyper-stylised meditation on materialism and its role in shaping culture. Evoking the fine art-inspiration of his photography work, Ligthelm's eye for framing and composition is on full display here, with shifting textures created in a studio shoot and&nbsp;a fittingly quickfire edit, brilliantly achieved by Elise Butt, who also cut the Introvert video.&nbsp;The rousing, cinematic vignettes build with palpable energy, matching the chant-like rhythm of the track, and the fearless performances from all three artists are arresting throughout.Above all, Little Simz once again shows that she is a fearless presence on camera, even while sharing screentime with her guest vocalists and a mesmerizing&nbsp;group of dancers. And with this triumphant return Salomon Ligthelm proves that he brings something special out of her.&nbsp;

NODE directs a striking promo for Berlin-based experimental pop artist Gabriel Gifford.The video for Barking Dogs Seldom Bite was&nbsp;shot at Hackney’s Moth Club, and draws inspiration from a 'cult-like' experience Gabriel had at a local spiritualist church with his father, months before his suicide. The senior Trim editor reflects on the lessons learned cutting promos early in his career, returning to music videos this year for Jon Hopkins, and the special place in his heart for Steven Spielberg.Like many other of London's top&nbsp;editors now working mainly in commercials, Thomas Grove Carter cut his teeth cutting music videos - in all shapes and sizes and in large numbers. Back in the early 2010s, his prolific output included some of the outstanding promos of the times, working with a generation of directors also making their mark. It's probably easier to list the emerging directing talent of that era that he didn't work with.Thomas&nbsp;has been with&nbsp;Trim Editing since 2013, where he is now one of the Whitechapel-based editing company's most experienced and garlanded editors. India Harris reunites&nbsp;with Confidence Man&nbsp;and pulls off a stunning departure for the Aussie dance-pop duo, combining high energy and high concept for their latest banger.The video for So What opens on aerial shot of a London tower block, and begins to infinitely zoom, into the pair's high rise home, and through into a succession of scenarios, where they party, then after-party, then party again.Then in the second part of the film, Confidence Man's Grace stands on the roof of the tower block, then falls - continuing to energetically perform while plummeting back to earth - where the final section plays out in reverse.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Shot in London's hottest club venue, The Cause, with slick VFX, stylised&nbsp;cinematography&nbsp;and a dark, almost dystopian aesthetic,&nbsp;this comes in&nbsp;a stark contrast to the style of previous recent Confidence Man vids - including Harris's vibrant video for <a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2023/08/08/dj-seinfeld-ft-confidence-man-now-u-do-india-harris/82744" target="_blank">Now U Do (with DJ Seinfeld)</a>. As their long-awaited new album ROMANCE is released, comes another&nbsp;remarkable Fontaines D.C. video - and another tour de force by Luna Carmoon.The director who made her music video debut with&nbsp;the intense drama of <a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2024/08/08/fontaines-dc-heres-thing-luna-carmoon/87678" target="_blank">Here's The Thing</a> (after her acclaimed feature debut Hoard) quickly returns to duties with the Fontaines with an extraordinary piece of work for In A Modern World: a surreal comedy-drama, featuring an incredible central performance&nbsp;from Ewan Mitchell (House of the Dragon, Saltburn) - as a character engaged in the netherworld of a very niche, indeed bizarre and&nbsp;dangerous sport.&nbsp;It's car-jitsu - jiu-jitsu, within the interior&nbsp;of a car. Invented <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a1f7r0cfaXc" target="_blank">just a couple of years ago, in Chicago</a>, Mitchell's character is the protagonist through which Carmoon explores an absurd yet compelling experience. At first, its just the raw, explosive physicality involved of clashing bodies within a ridiculously small space - which is surprising and hugely intense&nbsp;in itself.Then the director adds another dimension to the&nbsp;brutal clash of bodies - what is happening outside the car, the voyeuristic relationship of passers-by who become the audience to Mitchell and a succession of combatants, a kind of sexual frisson that is created through the intensity of the action. The parallels with another in-car activity is undeniable.&nbsp;It's&nbsp;Fight Club&nbsp;crossed&nbsp;with dogging.&nbsp;Horrible, painful to watch yet hilarous, it's mesmerizing stuff, a fever dream. And it's hard to undersell how good Mitchell is in this. Or how impressive it is in terms of the vision and world creation by Carmoon. Just great.[imgtoken data:1]&nbsp;
