Raja Virdi explores the thin line between good and bad for the big&nbsp;team-up of Marshmello, Mae Muller and Trippie Redd.&nbsp;The video for American Psycho takes place in a series of stylish custom-built sets, with a red and white colour scheme which represents the dichotomy of a toxic relationship.&nbsp;Muller and Redd thrive in their unique setups, and Virdi's use of dynamic transitions, animated elements and rhythmic editing keeps the video constantly engaging.[imgtoken data:1]"It was such a pleasure to direct this promo," says Virdi. "I'd been wanting to do a concept like this for a while and glad it fit the song so well. I love the themes of duality, and seeing the difference performance states of Mae between the red toxic sets and the white angelic sets."I really wanted to move the camera seamlessly between the spaces, keeping the visual constantly engaging with how we reveal new moments."Collaborating with my regular DOP Pieter Snyman and the insanely talented production designer Sarah Asmail&nbsp;ensured we found the rhythm for the piece and how best to give each space a unique feel for each artist on the song.[imgtoken data:2]"The turnaround was immense for this one with needing to shoot and deliver all within a week. But thanks to an insanely talented crew, we just about got there&nbsp;- albeit with little to no sleep, lol. Nono Ayuso directs a heartwrenching promo for Joy Crookes' Skin, captured in a truly arresting way - including having Joy travels around London, with her friend, on a bed."The song is about someone very close to the artist who thought life wasn’t worth living during a dark time," explains Ayuso.&nbsp;"We created this intimate film, where the bed is the symbol of the love between the couple, but at the same time is the symbol of the darker times. Both sides of the coin: love and depression, you never want to get out of your bed."I also wanted to show that even if you are feeling down or in love, the world never stops, and to achieve this we shot a moving bed in the streets of London."[imgtoken data:1]Tackling a difficult subject matter with&nbsp;a delicate, thoughtful touch, Ayuso captures a series of performance setups in a raw and&nbsp;intimate way - in a bold portrait-shape&nbsp;aspect ratio. He lets the story talk for itself without any distracting effects or cutaways.Joy Crookes adds that she wanted to the video to be a genuine depiction of the song itself.&nbsp;“The song is about someone very close to me who thought life wasn’t worth living during a dark time," she explains. "When it came to the video, it felt necessary to include that person in it. I asked him sincerely and I was incredibly grateful when he chose to participate.[imgtoken data:2]"The making of the video created an ownership and healing of that difficult time we both lived through. The intensity that was generated from it being a real-life experience for the both of us translates into the video because ultimately it is real."This autobiographical way of making work is hard emotionally but undeniably my favourite way of making art. Nono was so integral in this, as not only is he a fantastic director but a sensitive and empathetic character that made telling a story as difficult as this one&nbsp;a cathartic experience.”&nbsp;

Anne-Marie and&nbsp;Niall Horan assume the roles of a British Bonnie&nbsp;&amp; Clyde, in&nbsp;Michael Holyk's entertaining and recklessly anachronistic&nbsp;promo for Our Song.&nbsp;Fleeing town after a successful heist, the two lovers connect in a country park, and make their getaway along&nbsp;scenic backroads&nbsp;in a&nbsp;classic British roadster from the Fifties - a Jaguar XK 120, to be precise&nbsp;- wearing appropriate period clothing.&nbsp;But the piles of £50 notes in their bag of swag hints that Anne-Marie and Niall are not exactly what they seem.When they stop at a quaint village, an elderly man dobs them in. Then the cops swoop on our fun-loving criminals, in modern vehicles. Chris Ranson directs an impressive live performance video&nbsp;for Labrinth, inspired by the artist's work on the HBO show Euphoria.&nbsp;Taking place in an expansive venue hall, Labrinth performs four tracks in succession, backdropped by a hypnotic LED screen and corruscating laser lights.&nbsp;The buzzing energy of the promo is elevated by DoP Stefan Yap's dreamlike cinematography, rotating and gliding through the space with silky smooth precision.&nbsp;

The ninth and final episode from the Gorillaz' Song Machine series, and arguably Jamie Hewlett and co-directors Tim MCourt and Max Taylor have saved the best to last.If finding Elton John in cartoon form in Episode 7 was a surprise - how about his namesake Leee getting top billing as an angry sea monster, laying waste to a precious piece of Gorillaz history?The video for The Lost Chord is undoubtedly the most spectacular of the nine videos for the Song Machine album, but it is also in keeping with the rest of the series, particularly in exploring the increasing vulnerability of the previously devilish Murdoc. He has definitely met his match here, with the former frontman of 80s pop-soul outfit Imagination playing a chained Neptune-like creature who invades the band's poignant return&nbsp;to a now-desolate Plastic Beach with a momentous temper tantrum.&nbsp;This has been a brilliant series. As a body of work its as as good as anything in the Gorillaz canon. It's a real achievement by a consistent team of animators who have worked throughout the series. And the comic genius of Jamie Hewlett is still a bit underrated.&nbsp;&nbsp;
