Fred Rowson combines the advertising and music video worlds in this comedic hybrid for Yorkshire Tea.&nbsp;Giving an eccentric, tea-driven spin to the traditional 'holiday' video, we see a young character (played by George Kent) packing his bags for Ibiza, choosing to take 10kg of Yorkshire Tea with him, in place of everyday essentials.&nbsp;Packed full of slick transitions, graphic effects and greenscreen hilarity, it's a big change of tone for the brand, and Rowson does a brilliant job in ushering in this new style, in collaboration with ad agency Lucky Generals.[imgtoken data:1]“My favourite ads are the ones that get really, really specific about some small detail of life, and blow it up into something epic - and the creatives at Lucky Generals absolutely nailed that in this spot," says Rowson."From the client to the creatives to my HoDs and cast, we were all on the same page about how good this could be. Max McLachlan helps introduce the world to the new Birdy, in this captivating&nbsp;promo for Raincatchers.&nbsp;The video depicts Birdy as a giant, helping her younger self (played by Eleanor Hockley) navigate a world of corporate monotony and oppressive rules, blending&nbsp;semi-autobiographic lyrics with dark fantasy aesthetics.&nbsp;"Birdy is not a kid anymore," says McLachlan. "The world has known her since she was barely a teenager. She wanted a music video that would shed the dainty image of her as a naive child, but address the years of youth lost having to play grown-up in the industry."What better way to show how much she’s grown than to make her a giant?"[imgtoken data:1]Birdy drops down a miniature scale model of the office environment to the young girl,&nbsp;empowering her to see herself from a new vantage point, and gather the courage to break free and blaze her own path - whilst seeing life in a more playful way, as the child she is.&nbsp;The desaturated, near-dystopian aesthetic perfectly suits the narrative concept, and it's packed full of absorbing, emotional iconography.&nbsp;

Jordan Rossi directs a high-drama, glam rock-inspired promo for Adam Lambert's cover of Bonnie Tyler's bombastic classic.Rossi helms&nbsp;an effervescent&nbsp;visual for Lambert's take on Holding Out For A Hero, featuring a cast of bedazzled musicians, hidden behind glitterball helmets,&nbsp;who eventually strip to reveal their true, unique selves.&nbsp;From the pastel backdrop through to the styling and makeup, the video is a throwback to the glamorous excess of the 1980's, and is perfectly suited to the track.[imgtoken data:1]"The idea behind the video is to throw away homogeneity and celebrate individuality, whatever form that may take," explains Rossi.&nbsp;"Adam is the perfect collaborator. We've shot together before, so had a shorthand going into this one. But he was great at really driving ideas forward. He wanted to do something fashion-orientated with a glam rock and camp twist.&nbsp;When researching the video, Rossi found himself inspired by some of the all-time greats in the industry.[imgtoken data:2]"I did a lot of visual research for this video with photographers like Jean-Paul Goude being a big source of inspiration for the editorial setups," he says. "We also gave a cheeky nod to Robert Palmer's legendary, and often imitated, videos [for Addicted To Love and others] but again with our own camp twist - with glitterball wearing robots."At every stage of the video Adam and I sought to subvert traditional conventions of music videos, fashion and pop iconography to create a piece of work that was fun, tongue-in-cheek and expressive with an incredible cast."

A love story blossoms in the most unlikely of locations, in Fred Rowson's playful promo for Mae Muller.&nbsp;The video for I Just Came To Dance plays out like a Gucci shoot on a golf course, with a bit of The Virgin Suicides thrown in for good measure, and sees Mae attract the attention of a golfing guy with gorgeous looks but&nbsp;a flatlining personality.[imgtoken data:1]Mae can’t decide whether she wants to get with him or kill him. So, instead, she toys with him.Conceptually opposite to the lyrics of the track - you are definitely not meant to be busting moves in the middle of a golf course, but that doesn't&nbsp;stop&nbsp;Muller and friends -&nbsp;the video is imbued with director Fred Rowson's comedic, slightly surreal style, and it will keep viewers on their toes throughout.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Jordan Rossi directs an empassioned promo for South African singer-songwriter, actor and novelist Nakhane, featuring Perfume Genius, with a work that takes its cue from some pillars of Queer cinema and art.&nbsp;The video for Do You Well begins&nbsp;with Nakhane and their love interest glistening under sparkling lights in a studio space, and then&nbsp;battling to create a common ground, before finally connecting with each other.&nbsp;Gorgeous and thrilling, the video visualises a complex set of emotions in a stylish and thought-provoking manner, and the end result is wonderfully alluring.&nbsp;[imgtoken data:1]"Nakhane already had a concept for this video," Rossi reveals.&nbsp;"It was very much centred around a wrestling encounter between two people in a homoerotic fashion. They wanted to express the idea of a duel and the ridiculous nature of aggressive masculinity."Nakhane and I drew inspiration from lots of Queer art and cinema such as Pink Narcissus by James Bidgood, Querelle by Rainer Werner Fassbinder, Moonlight by Barry Jenkins and Sebastien by Derek Jarman. We also looked at features like Fight Club and Shame - both dealing with masculinity, sex and relationships in a unique manner.[imgtoken data:2]"Visually, I wanted a really deep and textured image with lots of energy. Tony Scott's turbulent yet cinematically rich style of compressed imagery was a huge source of inspiration here.&nbsp;"It's not every day you get to make projects such as this so a huge shout out goes to Faye who commissioned it, the record label for giving us complete creative freedom and Nakhane for being such a trusting collaborator."

Carly Cussen directs a glossy performance promo for Eyelar.&nbsp;In the video for Till You Hate Me, we see two opposing worlds collide, reflecting&nbsp;the dichotomy of emotions in the track.&nbsp;DoP Rick Joaquim creates a distinctive look for each of the worlds - the first is&nbsp;an ethereal, realistic environment, with soft lighting and a sense of calm. The other world is full of shadows, hard lighting and a gloomy, otherworldly colour palette.&nbsp;The opposing aesthetics perfectly encapsulate the themes of the concept, and pay homage to videos of the late 90's and early Noughties.&nbsp;Great work with a standout style and plenty of engaging imagery.&nbsp;

Raja Virdi explores the thin line between good and bad for the big&nbsp;team-up of Marshmello, Mae Muller and Trippie Redd.&nbsp;The video for American Psycho takes place in a series of stylish custom-built sets, with a red and white colour scheme which represents the dichotomy of a toxic relationship.&nbsp;Muller and Redd thrive in their unique setups, and Virdi's use of dynamic transitions, animated elements and rhythmic editing keeps the video constantly engaging.[imgtoken data:1]"It was such a pleasure to direct this promo," says Virdi. "I'd been wanting to do a concept like this for a while and glad it fit the song so well. I love the themes of duality, and seeing the difference performance states of Mae between the red toxic sets and the white angelic sets."I really wanted to move the camera seamlessly between the spaces, keeping the visual constantly engaging with how we reveal new moments."Collaborating with my regular DOP Pieter Snyman and the insanely talented production designer Sarah Asmail&nbsp;ensured we found the rhythm for the piece and how best to give each space a unique feel for each artist on the song.[imgtoken data:2]"The turnaround was immense for this one with needing to shoot and deliver all within a week. But thanks to an insanely talented crew, we just about got there&nbsp;- albeit with little to no sleep, lol. Big ups to to my constant producers Joseph J Goldman and Greg Smith for pulling this one out of the bag - and MVP 1st AD Tom Kelly who made a crazy tight schedule work without compromise.
