Emilie Badenhorst draws us into the wild affair of a couple of fun-loving teenage punks,&nbsp;in her barnstorming video for Dom Dolla.The video for Strangers sees this pair of disaffected teens&nbsp;discover themselves while struggling in menial jobs clearing trash, and heading on a whirlwind, lust-filled adventure. Turbo-charged with a steamy brew of sex, sensuality and outrageousness, Badenhorst cast a real&nbsp;couple as the protagonists in her modern romance - and it shows. Be warned, this contains sexy scenes. But it manages the balancing act of being the driving force that fires the action without being gratuitous.&nbsp;"The stories I want to tell are about people living boldly and chasing a sense of defiance," says Badenhorst.&nbsp;"The ‘those' and the ‘us’ that are often misunderstood or shamed by a system for how viscerally we experience life. I want to continue to champion this generation. I wanted to represent these individuals as truthfully as possible by focussing on the honesty in the characters' reactions as their love unfolded. "Firstly, the two leads [Caitlyn Summer Gilmore and Jay Gordon-Turner] are not professional actors, but have an intrinsic understanding of character nuances. They are a couple in real life and although I saw a lot of really great actors in the casting process, the chemistry these two had was already on fire, which was so important especially for this story. "It was such an organic and exhilarating process, partly because of the passion of all the creatives involved but also because of the collaborative effort. Collaboration is something very important to me. I know exactly what I want as a director, I am very clear and know what my end goal is on every project. But, how I get there is up to us as a team and that is why I choose to have certain creatives around me."

James Blake's cool LA life is disturbed by endless reminders that <a href="https://www.finneasofficial.com/" target="_blank">Finneas</a> is much more successful that he is - in Bear Damon's brilliant video for Say What You Will.“The song is about finding peace with who you are and where you’re at regardless of how well other people seem to be doing,” Blake has explained in a press release. “Comparison really is the thief of joy.”The video is really an expression of that theme, but much less earnest than Blake's statement might suggest. Bear Damon does exploit&nbsp;the sensitivity that Blake is&nbsp;renowned for, but for comic purposes. He does so in a&nbsp; series of beautifully judged sequences that serve to crush James's spirits - beginning with him holding a single&nbsp;award at the Grammys, only to be&nbsp;jolted by the sight of Finneas cradling an armful.Who knew that James Blake could act comedy? Bear Damon, presumably, and maybe Blake suspected it himself. There are various elements that make this an outstanding video - not least the (self-mocking) presence of Finneas. It would be nothing without him. But Blake's own performance of&nbsp;quietly crumbling confidence makes it wonderful. It may or may not be&nbsp;truthful, but it's certainly believable. &nbsp;&nbsp;

Mum's the word in Dawit N.M.'s video for Charlie Puth's Mother.&nbsp;&nbsp;Focused&nbsp;on the formative years where love is an exciting new concept, and drinking and smoking with friends for hours&nbsp;is the best way to pass time, Mother is a fly-on-the-wall look at a group of teens having the time of their lives.Puth sings about the dangers of taking him home to meet your mother, but interestingly he stands out of a great deal of the action in this video. He is at the very same locations as the group in the narrative, but usually isolated or in a different timeline.&nbsp;It feels appropriate for someone who is growing up and reflecting on his career so far, but in a fun and nostalgic way, instead of a wistful yearning.&nbsp;DoP Drew Bienemann keeps the action flowing with varied camera movements and tricks, including a 360 degree rotating camera inside the car, which allows for a full view of the mayhem that ensues as they party down the road. Feel-good and light-hearted, this is Puth at his strongest and most confident - and a strong move into pop by Dawit N.M., who came to our attention earlier this year via his fine <a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2019/04/02/mereba-jungle-only-way-out-dawit-nm/58049" target="_blank">'Visual EP' for Mareba's The Jungle Is The Only Way Out</a>.&nbsp;

But before the job, he has some work done on the car&#39;s soundsystem - adding&nbsp;a rack of bass speakers in the back. And during the ride, he gradually turns up the bass.&nbsp;Like a&nbsp;modern day Robin Hood-meets-Drive, the anti-hero traps the bad guys - and we find out what effect the pressure caused by high volume bass can do to the human body.
