A support group becomes shared catharsis in&nbsp;Piers Dennis' latest entertaining excursion with Rebecca Lucy Taylor, aka&nbsp;Self Esteem.&nbsp;The video for 69 opens in a community&nbsp;setting, where Rebecca sits in a circle of women, delivering the song’s verse with characteristic intensity (and yes, it's all about sex)&nbsp;as the group nods along in understanding, and then begin to be visibly moved. Prepare to be conflicted - and knocked sideways -&nbsp;by Niall Trask's remarkable video for&nbsp;Alabaster Deplume, where&nbsp;surreal black comedy meets realistic heartbreaking drama.The video for the jazz musician, composer, poet and activist's song Invincibility is an&nbsp;audacious blurring of filmmaking conventions, where a powerful narrative about a sombre event involving&nbsp;a seriously injured dog, is subverted by the bizarre, dreamlike&nbsp;device of having the dog's head replaced by&nbsp;Alabaster Deplume's.&nbsp;He performs the song that echoes the sorrow and trauma of a mother and daughter as rush their beloved pet to the vet, and endure the inevitable end. That's sensitively but unflinchingly dramatised by Trask - while there are also flashbacks to happier times, with shots of Alabaster (aka Angus Fairbairn) as the erstwhile carefree dog. Which is both funny and also underlines the heartbreak, the onset of grief.It's audacious storytelling - and so sad it could justify a mental health warning. "He gave me total freedom to write on one of three tracks and I returned his trust by choosing to euthanise him to the score of Invincibility."On a personal level, there has been a fair share of tragedy in recent years and finding the absurdity/humour in it all, is always my go-to remedy. Hannah Bon reflects upon human masculinity and its canine equivalent&nbsp;with intensity and dry&nbsp;humour in her video for LA-based indie-rock musician Sabrina Mae Teitelbaum, aka Blondshell.&nbsp;&nbsp;From her performance of the song T&amp;A in a&nbsp;motel room, Sabrina radiates a juxtaposition of strength and vulnerability, following on with parallel sequences of man and dog to&nbsp;highlight the hidden softness and overt aggression in both.&nbsp;Bon explores empathy, duality, and deep human&nbsp;connection through this video - beautifully shot by DoP Guido Raimondo - with&nbsp;memorable results.[imgtoken data:1]"When I started thinking about how to approach T&amp;A, I knew I wanted it to feel this fleeting moment and not be something strictly narrative - more like a memory Sabrina was having paired with vulnerable portraits of the men," explains Bon, who drew a powerful performance from Teitelbaum to act as a counterweight to the portrait element.&nbsp;"Sabrina had a commanding, statuesque presence on camera that completely captivated me," she says. "It was a real pleasure collaborating with her. The video follows a stoic figure - vocalist Clari Freeman-Taylor - trudging through a muddy dirt track in the middle of a vast, barren field, carrying a small 1980s television.On the TV screen, a vibrant, expressive version of Clari’s face sings, juxtaposing her impassive expression as she presses forward. Connected to a long extension cable, the TV mirrors the tension in the track as the cord stretches to its breaking point.The textural, abstract aesthetic has hints of expressionism and experimental cinema, which creates an anachronistic, pensive atmosphere. It's been a long time since French legends Megaforce directed a proper music video. This is not one either - but it comes quite close. In this case, the 'artist' happens to be the two pre-eminent heavyweights in world boxing, about to meet for a big title fight.And the whole premise is based upon a song - Can't Get You Out Of My Head - and that idea is taken to extraordinary lengths, as Tyson Fury and&nbsp;Oleksandr Usyk start seeing each other&nbsp;in the faces of everyone (and every thing)&nbsp;they meet in their normal lives, in the lead-up to the fight, with the iconic chorus of the Kylie classic on the soundtrack.Megaforce just keep pushing the idea further into an escalating frenzy of comic horror, from chilling reflections to uncanny encounters in everyday life, to full-on body horror.The whole purpose is to ramp up the suspense and expectation for Fury and Usyk's big rematch fight in Riyadh, on December 21. It just goes to show just how far boxing promoting has come.&nbsp;But after this, will the actual fight be as good, as entertaining as the promo?&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Brown, which opens - and lingers for quite a while - in a pub urinal.&nbsp;In the video for I Find Sex Abhorrent,&nbsp;Jim E performs to camera as he finishes his business, and stumbles out to get his drink. By the end of the track, he's back in the bathroom.&nbsp;Shot at the Mrquis of Lorne pub in Brixton, with the same deadpan energy of previous collab <a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2024/11/27/jim-e-brown-i-saw-bird-today-niall-trask/89193">I Saw A Bird Today,&nbsp;</a>it appears that both Trask and Brown have found a magic collaboration formula, and here's to hoping they make many more weird videos together.

Brown in a gritty South London setting, for his appealingly silly I Saw A Bird Today.With a murky aesthetic and deadpan performance, Trask's visual is a vehicle for Brown's downtrodden, miserablist persona and highly specific outlook on the world around him, as he recounts a random encounter with&nbsp;a bird in amusingly banal&nbsp;detail.&nbsp;With plenty of confused stares from Brown and a selection of avian cameos from the local pigeons, the director's enthusiasm for off-kilter comedy and unconventional&nbsp;characters&nbsp;shines through. Jim E. Brown is certainly one of those.[imgtoken data:1]“I Saw A Bird Today is a song I have wrote about seeing a bird," says Brown. "I never actually saw the bird in the song, but used poetic license to imagine what it would be like to see a bird. I am an alcoholic and spend most of my time sat at pub. I am not outdoors often enough to see birds."The director of the video, Niall Trask, found some pigeons in Brixton and had me stand near them. It was rather uncomfortable to be near so many birds as I abhor animal life. Luckily it did not take long to film and I was able to drink Strongbow during the production.”
