Relta directs a dazzling performance promo for rising star Sekou.Inspired by the 1980’s documentary&nbsp;Paris Is Burning, the video for Never Gunna Give You Up&nbsp;explores a space where people are free to be themselves, empowering Sekou to launch into a solo dance moment.Inside a hazy, deep red venue, we see Sekou interacting with other party-goers, before taking the spotlight in a retrofuturistic room, where he transitions into a boundless dance performance.&nbsp;It's completely absorbing - retro, cinematic and joyous, and easily one of the standout promos of the year to date.&nbsp;[imgtoken data:1][imgtoken data:2]

Relta directs the official short film for Kojey Radical's new album, charting the artist's self-appraisal at a crucial moment in his life through an ambitious twist on music video conventions. &nbsp;In Don't Look Down -&nbsp;inspired by the album of the same name - Relta builds a world around Kojey that is, on the face of it, highly music video-friendly. It starts with a house party, but the host and star of the show, is struggling to cope with the situation. What follows is impressive, not just for Kojey's performance - which is excellent - including his frankness about experiencing any mental fragility, but that the film continues to subvert expectations.In the film, Relta and team have made a real benefit with their imaginative approach to environment is reflecting Kojey's state of mind. The rooms of a house (or houses) are revealed to be part of a connected studio set. This is clear in the part of the film devoted to the track Rule One&nbsp;- which was also released as <a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2025/06/04/kojey-radical-ft-bawo-rule-one-relta/91309" target="_blank">a separate video</a> - but feels more meaningful as part of the bigger picture of the film, where the music video language of the dreamscape comes with a wider message.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Relta also deals with a sizeable cast, almost throughout the film, who are playing the both the important people and minor figures&nbsp;in Kojey's life, which also highlights both the pressure and the rewards. It allows guest performers Bawo and Ghetts&nbsp;to fit seamlessly into this world. But ultimately it all serves to push the theme of Kojey's personal journey, and his embracing of real-world responsibilities, in a way feels both personal and entirely&nbsp;relatable.&nbsp;So this is&nbsp;an inspired and accomplished piece, and an excellent effort from all involved.&nbsp;[imgtoken data:1]&nbsp;[imgtoken data:2]

American rapper&nbsp;Mick Jenkins and British singer Enny talk to each other - or perhaps are talking to themselves - in a stylish visual by Flora Scott.&nbsp;With an approach that combines thoughtful, well-shot compositions of Jenkins and Enny&nbsp;with guerilla-style shots of London, the video for Words I Should Have Said does a fine&nbsp;job in creating an atmosphere that suits the song and complements the personalities of the artists.Flora Scott says that&nbsp;her intention was to create a space where their frank truth-telling was entirely plausible."We place&nbsp;Mick and Enny in a world where they confess their words to the light (or lack thereof), as well as to their own reflections and each other’s," explains Flora.&nbsp;"We juxtapose this with moments from day into night as we transition through the video, making their inner world seem even more insular."

The air is thick with heat, sweat&nbsp;and anticipation - a&nbsp;sea of bodies moves in perfect, chaotic sync at the best party on Carnival weekend.Femi Ladi brings this energy to life on screen by using a variety of stylistic camera techniques and setups to fully immerse the viewer in the moment. The aesthetic is encapsulated in the gorgeous glow of Stefan Yap's cinematography and Vlad Barin's grade that captures the sense of unbridled passion and&nbsp;intense heat&nbsp;in the movement&nbsp;of Leigh-Anne and her friends.&nbsp;And then comes the curveball, when a visual dominated by dance adds an edge of drama and mystery: Leigh-Anne's focus is disturbed by a passing female in red, starting a party of her own in the next room - who&nbsp;turns out to be her own&nbsp;alter-ego.It's an intriguing way to end the first release&nbsp;from this new chapter of Leigh-Anne's career. For the first single from multi-hyphenate artist and rapper Kojey Radical after a three-year hiatus, Relta directs a compelling video capturing his performance and how it radiates through a series of connected rooms.The video for Rule One unfolds in a kinetic style, beginning as Kojey performs as he exercises vigourously on a running machine, then visually panning through adjoining&nbsp;rooms - a group of girls' listening to the music on headphones, his collaborators Bawo and Swindle relaxing with friends.Each flicker between different rooms exploring the power of focus and dedication in life, the viewer gets the sense they are on the journey with Kojey through his mind and lyrics and he lays out his rules for life."I’ve admired Kojey’s work for almost 10 years now - longer than I’ve been directing," says Relta. "So I suppose it makes sense that I placed a lot of importance on this project. Thankfully I had the most wonderful team around me who made my somewhat ambitious creative come to life."We built three adjoining sets, each with their own tones and emotional weight. The song felt militant and authoritative to me, and being Kojey’s first release in several years, I was keen to have his performance shots feel just as impactful, seeing him training in a surreal space &amp; powering the surrounding rooms."I also loved the way Kojey paid homage in the song and we managed to sprinkle in a couple more nods in the video, as well as seeing the next generation taking notes themselves. The entire video was shot in an intense three hour window and looking back it’s all a bit of a blur, but I couldn’t be happier with how it came together."

Femi Oladigbolu dramatises singer-songwriter Myles Smith's personal story of family breakup&nbsp;in the video for My First Heartbreak.A young man walks through an empty house and finds an old-style phone with answering machine, playing the message from a father to his sons. The man then becomes his younger self, listening to the message for the first time.&nbsp;The memories of the adult&nbsp;and the experience of the child are intertwined, which underscores the traumatic experience of the story of a father abandoning his family.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;"I was truly moved by the vulnerability in the track," says&nbsp;Oladigbolu. "Its raw honesty wasn't too distant from my own experiences. Mumford &amp; Sons return to action with an irresistibly joyous video by Charlie Robins in which some of the band's most loyal fans listen to&nbsp;their new music for the first time, capturing their instinctive initial&nbsp;reactions.Fans and friends of the band were invited to hear Rushmere - title track of Mumford &amp; Sons'&nbsp;forthcoming new album and their first release in over five years - at an event in London in December. In a stripped-back studio setting and&nbsp;with multiple cameras, Robins' then focusses&nbsp;on each person, filmed individually or as a pair, and finds them reacting in a range of very personal ways to the song.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Opening with a mosaic-like grid&nbsp;of each person at the start of each take, the video then transitions into a glorious rollercoaster of emotions - the dawning&nbsp;pleasure of hearing a song that revives the band's early sound,&nbsp;turning into&nbsp;dancing in some cases, but also quieter, intimate&nbsp;contemplation&nbsp;and even a few tears.[imgtoken data:1]The genuine reactions of discovery from a group of ordinary people with a shared love of the band&nbsp;- some of whom came a very long way to attend - are fascinating and heartwarming to behold, captured in Jack Exton's cinematography and Ed Cooper's insightful edit. "We decided to run with it and do a bit of a forensic study of Mumford’s fans and friends as they encountered the new music."We shot with eight cameras - perhaps slightly OTT but nothing beats good old-fashioned realness. Earth is under attack and only a long-suffering pub barman - who happens to look different from everyone else -&nbsp;can save us, in&nbsp;James Ogram's terrific promo for South London indie-rock outfit Fat Dog.&nbsp;Ogram finds the sweet spot between satire and cartoon capers in the video for the band's rollicking anthem Earth Song, where a very tall, distinctive-looking alien (played by Peter Lidell)&nbsp;arrives&nbsp;for work in a London boozer, to face hostility and abuse&nbsp;by one of the punters. When the TV news channel reports on a UFO in the shape of giant dog&nbsp;hurtling towards Earth, other drinkers also pile in to blame him for the alien invasion. So he decides to act...[imgtoken data:1]Cue a cool change of visual style to mixed media&nbsp;animated montage, when the alien barman goes to confront the Big Dog in a titanic clash among London skyscapers. Vibrant colours and cut-out textures collide&nbsp;in a King Kong v Godzilla-style fight montage, with painstaking animated elements&nbsp;assembled by animation director Evan Lawday.Following his videos for Honeyglaze, including the UKMVA-nominated <a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2024/06/17/honeyglaze-dont-james-ogram/86876" target="_blank">Don't</a>, this is&nbsp;a big step up in scope and ambition by Ogram, and he rises to the challenge. The video is a pleasure from start to finish - to enjoy for fun&nbsp;and also absorb the underlying message.&nbsp; &nbsp;[imgtoken data:2]&nbsp;"When I first received the brief for this video from Fat Dog, there was one major question to answer: how do I make The Man Who Fell To Earth meet Godzilla on a music video budget?" says Ogram.&nbsp;"It was a little tough. But once I saw Peter (our alien) in make-up, I was confident we could make it work."We filmed Peter against greenscreen, getting him to do karate kicks, punches and all sorts of other bizarre things, so our animator, Evan Lawday, would have something to work with. Peter was a great sport and we managed to get a lot in about an hour."We then had to cram all this story into the remaining two&nbsp;minutes of the music video. We focused on hitting beats and not over-shooting. Spending our time on little looks between Peter and the supporting artists and somehow, I think it all worked out."&nbsp;
