Rauri Cantelo directs a retro-futuristic promo for Rose Gray - the director's third&nbsp;for the up-and-coming dance-pop artist.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;The video for Ecstasy jumps&nbsp;between cold labratory spaces and softer organic moments, the metallic textures clashing with playful, intense colour, creating a weird and wonderful world that is Rose Gray's own. Rose Gray 'Ecstasy' by Rauri Cantelo

Rauri Cantelo has created the visual identidy for Rose Gray's debut EP Syncronicity, with two videos including the intoxicating mix of lo-fi thrills and VFX for the title track.&nbsp;Originally coined by psychiatrist Carl Jung in the early 20th century, 'synchronicity' described the philospher's argument&nbsp;that everything in the universe is intimately connected, and that there was a collective unconscious of humankind. Essentially implying that events happening all over the world at any one time must be connected in some unknown way.Cantelo translates this idea into Gray's trip with friends in a car, where reality begins to collide with another dimension, created by using different VFX techniques, including Photogrammetry.&nbsp;&nbsp;[imgtoken data:1] "From early on in the process it was was clear that we were looking to create a film that didn’t conform to traditional chronology," says Cantelo. "It&nbsp;almost needed to be modular and fractured in its structure, a snapshot of a moment that can be broken apart and glued back together in numerous ways to essentially convey a sense of feeling rather than a clear cut narrative. "I wanted the film to look further into shared memories and experiences. After&nbsp;all the track’s name gave us the perfect footing to launch into a world that explores a deeper, almost cerebral connection between a group of people sharing a synchronised moment."By utilising LiDAR and photogrammetry we would then be able to convey a three dimensional connection between these individuals that surpasses the physical world seen on camera.”

Rauri Cantelo&nbsp;directs a classical art-inspired lockdown visual for Foxes' return with Love Not Loving You.&nbsp;Featuring layered montages of performance and artwork,&nbsp;Love Not Loving You&nbsp;is bold, buoyant, and unapologetically feminist. Inspired by her own hiatus and journey to empowerment, Foxes - aka Louisa Rose Allen - celebrates the women that came before her,&nbsp;flipping the script on the idea of "a painter and his muse", instead presenting women&nbsp;as beautiful, powerful and in charge of their own narratives.&nbsp;She notes: “This song is about finally falling in love with myself, about not depending on anyone else for my own happiness, and being able to stand on my own two feet. I hope the message in this song can inspire others to do the same.”Beautifully executed and presented, the clever editing and painstaking attention to detail hides the fact this was created in lockdown. In reality, Louisa was forced to go completely DIY and shoot the video at home, by herself on her phone, with just her mum and her dog in the room, with Cantelo and the rest of the team watching on video call.[imgtoken data:1]

Ella Henderson takes a trip down memory lane in&nbsp;Rauri Cantelo's visual for Take Care Of You,&nbsp;on her computer reminiscing about some of her favourite childhood moments.Cantelo&nbsp;was inspired to explore the theme of nostalgia by incorporating the ‘brutalist’ design of Windows ‘95, but giving it a strikingly colourful, popping-candy-esque update for the modern day.The folders of video memories create a tapestry of nostalgia, easy enough to drop in and out of, tainted by the wistful yearning for a time that has been and gone. The act of exploring old memories can be either positive or negative, dependent on mindset, and the use of subtle effects - such as the hesitation when making a selection on-screen - really leans into this idea.&nbsp;Henderson states,&nbsp;“This song is for everyone I love, as well as a message of self-care - a personal reminder to look after myself, both mentally and physically.”The video was created remotely, with the use of iPhones and drones, at the height of the Covid-19 lockdown. Sending a drone pilot to Ella’s house not only allowed Cantelo to capture imposing aerial shots, but also meant that the shoot complied with the UK government’s guidance on safe social distancing. By patching into the live drone feed, Cantelo&nbsp;was able to provide real time feedback to both the drone pilot and Ella herself.

Jocelyn Anquetil creates an alien-cowgirl fantasy for Ashnikko’s uncensored&nbsp;female empowerment&nbsp;anthem Working Bitch.The quirky video combines punk aesthetics and a hip-hop sound to promote sexual liberation and choreographed dance. Opening with a nuclear green-tinged homage to early&nbsp;B-Movies, if you were ever curious what a barndance on Mars would look like, you're in the right place.&nbsp;The concept&nbsp;was inspired by none other than country singer Dolly Parton, with&nbsp;Anquetil stating “We imagined a little girl in the early '80s who tied Dolly’s Nine To Five&nbsp;record to a balloon, sending it into the sky. And a distant world inhabited by human-like aliens that eventually found it in their atmosphere. Resulting in an entire civilisation of extraterrestrial Dolly Parton fanatics, desperate to come to earth to meet their Hero(ine).”The finished product is an inspired mix of fluorescent&nbsp;lighting, DIY set design and intergalactic styling, with a positive message to boot.&nbsp;

Inspired by the lyrics “So I pretend, this is going to be the last time”, KAM's video for Caggie Dunlop presents a recurring battle, as she tells herself again and again -&nbsp;she won't be back - and appears multiple times in the same shot in the process."The video makes me reminiscent of my childhood and teenage years," says Caggie Dunlop. "It's sweet nostalgia for any girl who grew up in the nineties /early noughties, and spent evenings and weekends daydreaming about boys in her bedroom."The single camera move idea provided a challenge for KAM, who explains: "Technically speaking, the concept was a bit of a risk. We didn’t have the budget for a motion control rig,&nbsp;so it was the job of our DOP Tristian Chenais, equipped with a ronin, to capture this all in one take."With a limited amount of studio time, KAM built the set to scale in 3D, an extensive previz, which allowed her and the team to calculate precise shot timings on the day.&nbsp;&nbsp;KAM was eager to capture a filmic look for the piece to convey the nostalgia in Caggie’s lyrics. Working closely with Mill Colourist Thomas Mangham they used a textured grain, expressive colours and glowing highlights to achieve this."Due to the single shot technique used during filming, it was certainly a challenge matching some of the footage, due to the sudden changes of lighting when passing windows," says Mangham. "Through the use of dynamic grade techniques and key frames the transitions were made to feel seamless."&nbsp;
