Jordan Rossi directs a high-drama, glam rock-inspired promo for Adam Lambert's cover of Bonnie Tyler's bombastic classic.Rossi helms&nbsp;an effervescent&nbsp;visual for Lambert's take on Holding Out For A Hero, featuring a cast of bedazzled musicians, hidden behind glitterball helmets,&nbsp;who eventually strip to reveal their true, unique selves.&nbsp;From the pastel backdrop through to the styling and makeup, the video is a throwback to the glamorous excess of the 1980's, and is perfectly suited to the track.[imgtoken data:1]"The idea behind the video is to throw away homogeneity and celebrate individuality, whatever form that may take," explains Rossi.&nbsp;"Adam is the perfect collaborator. We've shot together before, so had a shorthand going into this one. But he was great at really driving ideas forward. He wanted to do something fashion-orientated with a glam rock and camp twist.&nbsp;When researching the video, Rossi found himself inspired by some of the all-time greats in the industry.[imgtoken data:2]"I did a lot of visual research for this video with photographers like Jean-Paul Goude being a big source of inspiration for the editorial setups," he says. "We also gave a cheeky nod to Robert Palmer's legendary, and often imitated, videos [for Addicted To Love and others] but again with our own camp twist - with glitterball wearing robots."At every stage of the video Adam and I sought to subvert traditional conventions of music videos, fashion and pop iconography to create a piece of work that was fun, tongue-in-cheek and expressive with an incredible cast."

Jordan Rossi takes Craig David into a colourful surrealist adventure for his video for&nbsp;My Heart's Been Waiting For You.Craig performs this garage-influenced club hit in a serious of increasingly surreal settings, with outer space encroaching into modern-day London. And periodically everything then suddenly ramps up into another dazzling visual dimension.[imgtoken data:1]"The brief was wide open," explains Rossi.&nbsp;"All that was stated was they wanted a green screen video that had the vibe of Craig's tour footage. I took that and ran with it, and wanted to craft a luminous surrealist fantasy that was equal parts Dali with Craig's R&amp;B-pop aesthetic."Craig was the best collaborator a director could ask for. Hugely respectful of the art but always wanted to push the boundaries creatively. It meant that what was a green screen video became a smash of reality and illusion in the most entrancing of ways. The final result is a fantasia of colour and other worldly scenarios. All seemingly familiar but with a twist."

Jordan Rossi directs a cathartic promo for Sir Tom Jones, featuring actor/dancer Iain Mackay.&nbsp;The track is a&nbsp;reversioning of the&nbsp;Bob Dylan song, and touches&nbsp;upon&nbsp;frank realisations about growing old, whilst still evoking a sense of positivity.The video focusses upon Mackay as a solitary drinker in a dive bar, chugging back the beers whilst&nbsp;lost in painful&nbsp;thought. As Sir Tom and the Dylan-penned track get going, his spirits start to improve. Soon he is off the barstool,&nbsp;dancing&nbsp;around the venue, leaving no part of the room untouched.&nbsp;And then, after reclaiming his sense of self, he leaves - driving off in a vintage Pontiac.[imgtoken data:1]"The concept for Not Dark Yet represented something very unique to me - even in the harrowing nature of this awareness of being near the end of your life there is a kernel of positivity that I wanted to hone in on," says Rossi."I remember writing in the treatment that you're never too old to have some fun and that's exactly what this is. No matter where life has taken you to you can always find a bit of fun somewhere. Particularly in the music."I really wanted to ensure that the video had some emotionality to it. I tried to imbue the video with every inch of detail that I could, some aspect that everyone would recognise in themselves. Whether that's the down-and-out start or the carefree climax or simply a love of music that is splashed across the entire piece.[imgtoken data:2]"I couldn't have completed the video without our protagonist Iain Mackay, ex-principal dancer from the Birmingham Royal Ballet, who came in at the last minute - literally the night before the shoot - and absolutely understood what we were trying to achieve."But also [DoP] Luke Scully who helped develop the visual style with me, Elle [Lotherington, 1st AD] who kept us on track throughout a tricky day and Natricia [Bernard, choreographer] whose energy and ingenuity never cease to amaze me."Scully's cinematography, including the use of&nbsp;different overlays and digital grain creates a slightly gritty and timeless feel.&nbsp;"The visual style takes inspiration from 1970s B-Movies and the Grindhouse genre, popularised in recent years by the likes of Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez," says Rossi.&nbsp;"But I chose to swap the action-packed gore for an upbeat two-step."

Elderbrook's cinematic track Broken Mirror&nbsp;becomes the vehicle for an authentic story, showcasing the issues facing many Queer people in 2021, helmed by director/photographer&nbsp;Jordan Rossi in collaboration with&nbsp; multi-disciplinary artist and creator Darkwah.Rossi's film follows a day in the life of a Queer performer played by Darkwah, and the reality of their experience, including the aggressions and microaggressions that impact personal safety and mental health.&nbsp;Together with a gut-wrenching sequence where Darkwah is cornered by a homophobic mob, there is also a focus upon the&nbsp;little stuff - small acts where their personal space is invaded, whether its being stared at and photographed in a cornershop, having their hair touched, or being touched inappropriately - that really resonates.&nbsp;[imgtoken data:1]Darwah delivers a charismatic performance which allows moments of happiness, as well as ranges of pain and anguish, and ultimately shows a strength of character, in a spoken-word sequence towards the end, which displays their inner resolve and dignity. Rossi brings this all together superbly well, in a video which features terrific cinematography from DoP Charlie Knight.On the project Darkwah has said:&nbsp;“As soon as I saw the treatment, I knew I wanted to be a part of this project," says Darkwah.&nbsp;"It’s all of the things I’ve experienced many times over. It’s so important that aggressions and micro-aggressions are spoken about outside of the LGBTQIA+ community. We know these things. We experience them - sometimes at the hands of those in our community but more so by those outside of it."Having these occurrences shown at this level in conjunction with an artist like Elderbrook, I hope will not only generate more conversation but result in change for the better as people check the ways in which they interact with performers, Queer performers and Queer people. I’m incredibly grateful to have been part of this project. Dan Cadan and Jonathan 'Scully' Mowatt's latest video for Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds&nbsp;brings the French nouvelle vague&nbsp;to modern London, and as with previous work for Noel, features a big name cast: Matt Smith and Gala Gordon play the lovers in a story inspired directly by Godard's Breathless.The video for We're On Our Way Now provides a snapshot of the lives of the couple, where an ambivalence and darkness lurks under the surface of a true romance. The directors also leave enough to the viewer's imagination to try to piece together a bigger story.As with the Jean-Paul Belmondo character in Breathless, Matt Smith is mixed up with some shady goings-on - either working for, or possibly against Noel Gallagher, who features in a cameo as a gangland figure. Smith bring depth to the part and is ideally cast.
