Created for Nowness's&nbsp;Thanks For The Dance series honouring the work of Leonard Cohen, featuring the French actor&nbsp;Isaach De Bankolé.Filmed in Texas, Haycock told Nowness (who presented the project in collaboration with Sony Music Canada and the Leonard Cohen estate):&nbsp;“My initial thoughts of the song was that Leonard was singing about dying but then I realized he had written this poem well before his death. The chair symbolizes a final resting place, but there is also an idea of accepting what is coming and enjoying it.“The song is already pretty heavy and I was worried I couldn’t do it justice. For his fourth collaboration with Sam Fender, Vincent Haycock has crafted a video out of the rich local street casting and locations in Marseille, in the south of France. Portraying couples in their most&nbsp;vulnerable, intimate moments, the visual is a slice of life, a collection of raw universal moments that mirror the themes of the track.&nbsp;Shot on an Arri SR3 16mm camera with a minimal documentary crew, the choice to keep things smaller in scale pays off, with incredibly poignant imagery&nbsp;and a cast who were encouraged to really let go and be&nbsp;present in the moment. This is very evident in the final project, and is a testament to Haycock's skill as a director. &nbsp;

Matilda Finn creates a moving collage to reflect Jay Rock&#39;s political words to For What It&#39;s Worth,&nbsp;bringing to life the characters in his lyrics&nbsp;as they appear like ghosts along the sidewalk.In contrast to the pale linear tracking shot, the visuals suddenly plunge into darkness midway through the video, capturing closer and more intimate portraits. Finn masterfully causes tension through the raw reality of the situations depicted in this video, mainly shot in neutral monochrome tones, but then breaking into a powerful midnight blue.Matilda Finn has just signed to Stink Films&nbsp;for commercial and music video representation in the UK. It&#39;s also as subversively sensual as the title of the song: Licking An Orchid.&nbsp;&nbsp;

This wonderful video for Blood Orange (aka Dev Hynes) by Crack Stevens (aka Akinola Davies) is, in effect, two videos played alongside one another. They are at the same time very similar and widely different, and their juxtaposition serves to send a message about the diversity of the black experience in London.In both cases, we&#39;re witnessing the different stages of a family celebration, of two different communities, taking place in the same social club, where Hynes is the performer. And what is the so appealing about it is the level of detail and the beautiful portraiture so that documentary merges seamlessly with the&nbsp;music video form.It&#39;s a celebration of similarities&nbsp;- the bringing of the food, the socialising, the dancing - and the differences - and most of all, the fact that it is real - which makes every frame (and split-frame)&nbsp;fascinating.

From Stormzy&#39;s incorrigible charisma, leading 350 young fans in a singalong, to the portraits of British households in their diversity, to the incredibly moving shared moment of silence, in memory of victims of tragedy, Nez Khammal has created a remarkable visual poem to life in London in 2017.Blurring the boundaries between music video and documentary, and deconstructing the music video process along the way, Nez&#39;s video for Blinded By Your Grace Pt 2 is a celebration of community, and the wealth of culture and beliefs that make up a city like London.It&#39;s an emotional experience, for reasons that are, in very&nbsp;British fashion,&nbsp;never explicitly referred to, but will be obvious to nearly&nbsp;everybody. Nearly six months after the Grenfell Tower tragedy, Nez and Stormzy have made something that looks back and forward, and allows the viewer to experience a little joy, sadness - and hope. A late contender for one of the videos of the year.&nbsp;
