Stormzy celebrates his 30th birthday in style with #TheMikeGala, and uses the occasion as a the perfect opportunity for a music video.Enlisting Troy Roscoe to capture the visuals, the video for Angel In The Marble is an elegant 'who's who' of the British entertainment industry, intercutting glossy portraiture with heightened performance moments.&nbsp;Shot by&nbsp;Rick Joaquim, the contrast of fly-on-the-wall footage and glossy posed snapshots creates a concept that is both ambitious and luxurious - very fitting for one of the biggest artists in the industry right now.&nbsp;"What an absolute pleasure to have the pressure of delivering the most important birthday present of all for Stormzy’s 30th," Roscoe says.&nbsp;"Stormzy and team wanted the visual&nbsp;to be nothing short of clean, glossy and to scream elegance. As hard as it was to not include one bit of VFX, I’m so happy with the turn out."The visual is so different to anything I’ve done before as my style revolves heavily around surrealism and visual effects - but in this instance it pushed me to focus on simplicity and beauty, both on the day and in the edit. The night was hectic but exciting, meetings all of those guests and getting to share such a special occasion with Mike himself.&nbsp;"The grade and slow motion footage really tied everything together and gave it a unique look. With greyscale footage all being shot at a slow frame rate to provide the beauty, and the graded footage in the booth providing the contrast and personality."

When Stormzy does videos, he does them big, and the video&nbsp;for Toxic Trait, directed by Femi Ladi,&nbsp;is no different, boasting a&nbsp;tour de force&nbsp;of set builds, visual effects and cameos - delivered with a mesmerizing motion controlled camera&nbsp;move.What's more, there's a dramatised therapy session featuring guest artist Fredo - with his therapist played by TV royalty Alison Hammond.The video fictionally contextualises a plethora of 'toxic' situations that Stormzy refers to in the track, honing in on gambling, violence and the glorification of luxury lifestyles. And as the camera shifts between multiple versions of the grime superstar, Ladi introduces&nbsp;significant, historical cultural moments from over the years, including the iconic&nbsp;1968 Esquire Magazine cover of Muhammed Ali and Kehinde Wiley’s prominent painting, A Ship Of Fools.[imgtoken data:1]When the action breaks for the therapy scene with Fredo and Hammond, it's a welcome development of the theme that also adds a touch of humour. Troy Roscoe takes things to a new nerve-shredding level in his latest collab with Potter Payper, in a brilliant, horror movie-inspired&nbsp;video for Scenes.&nbsp;Paying homage to some of the great horror films - including&nbsp;Ring and The Shining - reality distorts in Potter's home, bringing as supernatural entities and clones invade his safe space. Teenage love fails to run smoothly in Ethan &amp; Tom's excellent take on a high school musical for Tendai.A frosty moment between Tendai and his girlfriend - played by&nbsp;Sephora Parish - is played out in the halls of a London school, in a series of well-crafted sequences that involve a sizeable supporting cast.It's of a piece with the directing duo's facility with experimental camera techniques, with a constantly moving camera, which ends up rotating around the couple.But this is also arguably Ethan &amp; Tom's most sophisticated video so far in terms of execution, with an element of dramatic tension and a proper pop video feel in terms of scale and look. A real step-up for the talented directing duo.

Troy Roscoe directs a stripped-back yet hugely captivating promo for Potter Payper.&nbsp;Shot at night with a backdrop of neon shopfronts, the video features a tireless performance from Payper, whilst different characters play out their day-to-day routines.&nbsp;The approach works like a charm on this project, with the three minute runtime passing by like a bright spark, never feeling stale or tired."Simplicity is key in this one," Rocoe explains.&nbsp;"I think sometimes as creatives we overthink our ideas, trying to constantly improve on what’s already out there or to come up with something that’s not been done. But sometimes you have to reign it in and realise less is more."Shot in what was actually three takes, this one-take form visual sees Potter Payper in a dystopian-lit corner shop location, as the world around him evolves, whilst he performs in a nonchalant manner undisturbed by anything around him. Potter smashed this and took direction super well, which enabled us to shoot all of this within two&nbsp;hours!"I'm definitely going to get into more one-take content -&nbsp;or even just more tripod shots as not everything has to have crazy movement."

Ethan + Tom direct an introspective promo for Tendai's&nbsp;Time In Our Lives, where we see a man editing&nbsp;film on an old Steenbeck, taking great care of the material as he watches back the negatives and cuts with trained precision.&nbsp;A sense of yearning nostalgia is created by touching upon&nbsp;the physical traditions of moving image production, whilst hinting at a love story gone astray in a tender performance vignette.&nbsp;The video is refreshingly multilayered and clever in its concept, visualising 'time gone by',&nbsp;not only in a single narrative&nbsp;but by offering snapshots of near-antiquated technology and the traditions that are gradually being lost to&nbsp;the passing of time itself.Great work from the director duo, who won at the UKMVAs&nbsp;this year for their video for Wu-Lu's&nbsp;Ten.&nbsp;

KLVDR's 11 minute epic for Stormzy's big return with Mel Made Me Do It is remarkable in a number of ways, and not least of course due to the star quality and sheer number of the cameo&nbsp;appearances. And yes, that does include the Special One...More to the point is the ambition of the piece. Fom the chatshow hosted by Jonathan Ross and ZeZe Mills, with Stormz sharing the sofa with Louis Theroux and Dina Asher-Smith - watched by Usain Bolt, at his home in Jamaica -&nbsp;to performance elements in the studio and the meeting with Jose Mourihno, to the momentous final chapter bringing a couple of generations of Black British talent together that includes a tribute to the late Jamal Edwards.At that point, Stormzy hands over duties to provide the spoken-word piece called Greatness - written by Wretch 32 and read by Michaela Cole. It's a&nbsp;quietly powerful climax of an impressive and entertaining production - this was a five day shoot,&nbsp;plus shooting Bolt in Kingston - that amounts to a big statement of intent by&nbsp;Stormzy - and reminds us of his unmistakeable charisma.&nbsp;&nbsp;And of course, the eponymous Mel, stylist Melissa Holdbrook-Akpose, namechecked by Stormzy in the songtitle, is there too, both behind and in front of camera - with her lint roller.

Ethan &amp; Tom direct a fresh take on 90's nostalgia in their promo for tendai.&nbsp;Viewers of a certain vintage will remember the excitement and anticipation that came with the TV rolling into the classroom on a school day. Regardless of what was being played on-screen, the whole proceeding was an event, and the director duo have used this as their central concept in the video for Pressure.&nbsp;Shot in a white cyc studio, the understated action happens around this TV, which loops Ceefax-style graphics, revealing lyrics and thematical callbacks to the track.&nbsp;It has the multiformat, inventive trademark that the directors are known for, and achieves an awful lot on limited resources.&nbsp;
