Casper Balslev directs a marvellous music film for Danish alt-rock band 802's song&nbsp;My Girl - an absorbing coming-of-age tale, subtitled A Heavy Metal Bedtime Story.Featuring and inspired by the track - which is 802's debut single - we are introduced to&nbsp;a goth teenage girl who feels alone in the world - until&nbsp;she visits a car graveyard and finds an old rusty hearse with a coffin in it. Inside the coffin lies another goth girl, exactly like herself. And then these two young outcasts go on a rampage through the local neighbourhood...Exploring those liminal moments of youth, when the world seems to stop and you feel stuck in limbo between different time periods, the video has a rebellious feeling that bubbles under the surface, threatening to spill over in a riotous sequence of events.&nbsp;Dark, enigmatic and utterly captivating, it's a brilliant video with&nbsp;idiosyncratic characters, cinematic locations and a vibrant, nostalgia-tinged aesthetic.&nbsp;

Emmanuelle Soffé directs Poppy Ajudha's Playgod, a powerful pro-choice statement prompted by the recent Alabama abortion bill and other pressures on women’s freedom across the globeThe song questions the right of men to lay claim to women’s bodies, and Soffé's video&nbsp;grounds Ajudha’s anger in a series of low-lit scenes, with a chorus of women exploding into movement in time with the song’s ferocious chorus, making a physical expression of women’s grief and rage.Elsewhere, scenes depicting Ajudha in Virgin Mary-esque stylings show the grief that even Mary herself feels for Christian ideologies being warped in the name of ‘God’, while a glitter-laden performance from the singer depicts the sanctity of the female body.[imgtoken data:1]"When I first heard this track, with just a few hours to write a script, it struck me that the most powerful way to approach a video concept for a song like this was through simple and raw expression of emotion," says Soffé. "An expression of the emotion that we, as women, feel when we watch things like the Texas Heartbeat Act unfold on our screens. The horror and the grief we feel on behalf of our sisters (and trans/non-binary siblings) on the other side of the planet. The anger, the rage, the frustration, the helplessness. And the way that these powerful emotions unite us, bind us together, make us stronger and ever more determined for change."At its essence, the concept for this video is about Releasing. Danish director Bertil Vorre's video for&nbsp;Joshua Lindemann's remix of Yoav's Blood Moon brings us into an increasingly&nbsp;tense stand-off between father and son: as the young man expresses himself with his friends through choreography and dance, he comes against the opposition of his furious&nbsp;Dad.&nbsp;As the mood in the family apartment darkens, the older man is like a coiled spring about to explode... until something surprising happens - possibly the consequence of the blood-red moon over the city.&nbsp;With strong performances from his cast - particularly&nbsp;Jens Andersen and Frederik Levin Jensen as the father and son - Vorre builds the tension to the verge of melodrama, before delivering his thoroughly enjoyable twist in the story.Dad realises he cannot resist the beat either, the old hypocrite, and the result is mesmerising.

Bjarke Underbjerg directs an alluring and romantic promo&nbsp;for George Cosby.&nbsp;Shot in Milan&nbsp;and featuring breathtaking architecture and cityscapes,&nbsp;the video follows a narrative vignette between Cosby and an enigmatic woman, played by Lara Di Bello, who is continuously walking&nbsp;a few yards in front of him.Contrasting reality and fantasy, Cosby playfully follows the character, but it becomes more and more unclear if she is real or a figment of his imagination.&nbsp;The cinematography by Andrea Dutto&nbsp;is gorgeous,&nbsp;enhanced by the sun-soaked scenery and lots of silky-smooth Steadicam setups. And Bjarke Underbjerg maintains a sense of mystery throughout this beautiful-looking piece.&nbsp;

MØ takes on the formidable Globe of Death on her motorbike, before being catapulted into a new idyllic world in Joanna Nordahl's dazzling video for Live to Survive.Nordahl uses a combination of spectacular action, portraiture and fiery VFX to create a visual metaphor for the sentiment behind the song that marks the&nbsp;return of the artist otherwise known as&nbsp;Karen Marie Ørsted.In the first part of this breathless video we get the all-action MØ, as two bikes revolve around inside the enclosed Globe of Death. Unable to express his emotions, Robin recounts how his grief turned to rage.

Bjarke Underbjerg rounds off a trilogy of videos for Swedish artist LÉON,&nbsp;with the introspective promo for Seventeen.&nbsp;Through the reunification of the indie pop star and her first love, we see the different ways in which posing for a camera and posing for a person intertwines - the constant switch between vulnerability and immovability. In short it's like the age old question: who are we through the eyes of another?&nbsp;DoP&nbsp;Adam Jandrup carries over the same cinematic, emotive cinematography from the previous two promos, with an added energy and flair towards the crescendo of the concept.&nbsp;Beautiful work and a striking way to end a special series of videos.&nbsp;

Here&#39;s a hell of a &#39;what if&#39; scenario: what if Iggy Pop narrated a nature documentary wherein the animal essentially plays the part of Josh Brolin in the first part of No Country For Old Men?Well, wonder no more. Casper Balslev&#39;s video for Alt-J&#39;s In Cold Blood starts off innocently enough. It&#39;s the intrepid, wily adventures of your average wood mouse, and it&#39;s&nbsp;beautifully shot and majestically paced like the best the BBC can offer - right&nbsp;up until the point where our cute little mousey pal scuttles over a still-fresh disembodied human hand and into the aftermath of what we can only assume was a deal gone very bad indeed.As far as narrative left-turns go, this one is loaded with visual hooks and mysteries to unpack. But essentially the moral is clear: the dangers faced by the plucky mouse in the natural world, pale in comparison to the darkness perpetrated by humankind.
