The second in a series of videos by William Williamson for Philip Selway of Radiohead's forthcoming solo album Strange Dance continues the story begun in the first. The video for Picking Up Pieces&nbsp;features the same quartet of iconic dancers as the video for <a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2022/12/09/philip-selway-check-signs-life-william-williamson/79675" target="_blank">Check For Signs Of Life</a>:&nbsp;Siobhan Davies, Kenneth Olumuyiwa Tharp, Liam Francis and Simone Davies - with the piece also choreographed by Liam Francis&nbsp;and Simone Davies.Once again, it is filmed as a one-shot, with cinematography by DoP&nbsp;Adric Watson, this time working with colour 16mm film.&nbsp;The video features a spinning camera movement designed to mimic motoric pulse of the track, and takes it’s gorgeous golden brown autumnal colour palette from a painting made by artist Stuart Geddes in response to Selway’s new album.[imgtoken data:1]“We all viewed this film as a continuation of the last, with the choreography having echoes of our characters worlds whilst simultaneously unfolding new elements and emotions," says Williamson."I love the idea of creating a synergy between the music and the camera movement. So we not only decided to shoot this as a one take again, but the motorik pulse of the track and the powerful lyrics perfectly lent itself to a predominant circular camera movement. "Working closely with the dancers we wanted the constantly moving camera to be always revealing different components and layers of the performance, drawing attention to specific points within each frame as it passes by and the story slowly unfolds.“

Resonating with the song’s underlying theme, it’s a simplistic portrayal and embodiment of finding the light when battling through the dark."

Unknown T enters his domain, and risks his safety with his relentless lyrical flow in the face of an impassive, but increasingly impressed&nbsp;Ashley.Then Unknown T is off, back to his ends and his own boys, for the last performance-based section of the video. Gripping stuff indeed. &nbsp;

A heavy cloud looms over a series of characters in Greg Davenport's pensive promo for Honne, featuring Khalid.&nbsp;Shot in an observational fashion, the concept visualises themes of introspection and retreating into oneself, through gentle vignettes which hint at a backstory and narrative, but focus more on the feeling and emotion involved in a moment.&nbsp;Beautifully put together, Davenport strikes a rare balance of quantity and quality of setups, capturing an unplaceable mood and feeling in every single shot.&nbsp;

In his second video for DJ/producer prxz, following <a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2021/09/29/prxz-child-red-milo-blake/73079" target="_blank">Child In Red</a>, Milo Blake directs&nbsp;a poetic re-interpretation of the Grim Reaper shepherding a lost soul from limbo, in his promo for Girl.&nbsp;Shot entirely in a six minute&nbsp;continuous take, this one-shot film follows this version of the Reaper as she moves through an abandoned aftermath and interacts with the Soul.The abstract interpretation of the concept creates an aura of mystery which heightens the drama of the piece - with a great use of the East London location and in particular a giant electric pylon tower that straddles the road, its frame picked out in Adam Singodia's black and white cinematography.[imgtoken data:1]The excellent central performances by Emma Aldija as the Reaper and&nbsp;Maddie Millar as the Soul are also noteworthy,&nbsp;keeping viewers engaged with hypnotic, otherworldly movement and spontaneous choreography, captured by Steadicam operator Mike Vega.&nbsp;

Milo Blake creates an impressionistic celebration of London sub-cultures&nbsp;and a symbolic take on London history in his video for west London rapper, and NiNE8 COLLECTIVE founder Lava La Rue - set in a London Tube carriage.Blake was inspired by the photography of Bob Mazzer, who chronicled late night journeys on the Tube in the 80s, collected in his book Underground. But he also particularly celebrates the London punk scene from a Black perspective.The counter-balance on this intriguing Tube journey, populated by Lava and her crew of innovators is the the fat cat developer with his model building (and a chilling reference to Grenfell), the demo placards against oppression.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;"This journey finishes with a landing on the Magpie, a personification of the culmination of this history," Blake explains.&nbsp;"What the current crop of subcultures look like and how they might look in the future."

Big Zuu has gained a mainstream following with his TV appearances, while boldly occupying his own lane within the UK music scene. Will Ainsworth's video for Great To Be reflects his extraordinary success - and drive to succeed - with an uplifting combination of elevated performance and moments from his everyday life.The song bounces back and forth in time, detailing Zuu's difficult upbringing and his current winning mindset. The video preludes with the rapper deep in the creative process, finding a solitary spot on the side of the Thames&nbsp;to work on the lyrics for Great To Be. Then, as the track begins, he is stepping onstage at the Hackney Empire in London, performing the song with a string section.&nbsp;The lyrics touch upon tough times, and the work of UK public sector staff in the pandemic, while the visuals cut between Zuu's heartfelt stage performance, working on his craft in surprising places - and enjoying the company of his mates.&nbsp;Ainsworth has realised an&nbsp;appealing&nbsp;portrait of the man and the artist.
