PRETTYBIRD’s Kelvin Jones has directed a cinematic music video for M Huncho’s latest single Of Course. Shot on location during wild weather in Hastings, which Jones has lensed with an aesthetic that evokes Midwest America, a humorous narrative runs through the promo, based around central character ‘The Plug’, played by the artist.Kelvin Jones explains: “It was a privilege to work with Huncho on this video, he was so easy to work with. He originally hit me up for the job and it was a no brainer, he trusted my creative vision to create something he was more than happy with. We had a weather warning on the first day and we couldn’t move the shoot, so we was hit with heavy rain and terrible wind, and we was in Hastings so the intensity of everything was worse."So pickup day here we come, and on the second we ended up leaving with the scenes we wanted but under a different scope. We used a vast array of lenses for different purposes because I was searching for a lens that had a lot of character. However, we only had our main lenses on the main shoot but we couldn’t get them on our pickup day, so we ended up shooting on Arri’s Signature Primes and the ANGÉNIEUX ZOOM LENS.”

Paul Johnson directs a thought-provoking promo for Royal Blood.The video for Pull Me Through sees a middle-aged everyman sat in the driver's seat of a car, unable to move as it fills with water.&nbsp;A cast of characters start to surround the vehicle, looking on judgementally as the driver struggles to make any move at all, eventually sinking into the abyss.[imgtoken data:1]&nbsp;It's a video with a strong mental health subtext, and perfectly visualises the anxiety and fear that can come with everyday life.&nbsp;The textural, square ratio format also harks back to videos of the late 90's, and the aesthetic perfectly fits this thematic choice - the video is far from crisp, glossy HD, and this adds to the haunting quality of the video.&nbsp;

A bingo hall transitions into an impromptu gig performance, in Harry Deadman's charming promo for Cheshire indie-pop combo Cassia.&nbsp;The video for High Tones starts innocently enough, with a couple of tables enjoying a nice evening meal. This is all upended when crowds storm the stage to experience the feel-good vibes of a Cassia live performance.&nbsp;Eventually, everyone gets in on the action, and the video exudes a delightfully laid back and fun energy, which is reflected in the playful cinematography and performances.&nbsp;The art direction and styling in particular elevate the aesthetic of the visual, with plenty of pattern-heavy layers to keep things fresh and alluring.&nbsp;

Following their wonderful video for <a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2023/04/11/mura-masa-whenever-i-want-reids/81081" target="_blank">Whenever We Want</a>, brother-directing team The Reids reunite with Mura Masa for another intoxicating portrayal of leisure-time experience for&nbsp;Drugs, featuring the alluring presence of Peruvian model and singer Daniela Lalita.Ostensibly with a similar visual style to their first collab, by mostly focussing on a figure in centre-frame&nbsp;throughout, Drugs changes things up, introducing a different environment in which to enjoy Mura Masa's music, and an element of off-the-wall narrative.It's a houseparty, attended by Lalita, who witnesses a fellow partygoer shrink&nbsp;down into a small golden pill. She picks up the pill and swallows, before&nbsp;putting on her headphones...[imgtoken data:1]Cue a hypnotic montage of background transitions, with Lalita transporting&nbsp;through the party in a blissful haze - while remaining motionless and expressing joy and wonder through minimal changes in expression. This central concept, with the artist staying in place&nbsp;whilst the background switches up,&nbsp;is super effective, and&nbsp;Megan Lee's effervescent colour grade accentuates a truly dreamlike vibe.Lalita eventually ends up lying in an otherworldly field for the middle section of the visual - before then returning to the 'reality' of the party. And then, finally, performing her own transformation. A little comic twist on a video that entertains for a full five-plus minutes. Great stuff.

Róisín Murphy self-directs the beautiful promo for Fader,&nbsp;set against the backdrop of Murphy’s hometown of Arklow, County Wicklow.In the video, we see a street parade pass&nbsp;through the town, with&nbsp;Irish dancers, majorettes, Girl Guides, Boy Scouts and a brass band in tow. And Roisin herself joins the parade, weaving between the participants, perfomring the song.Shot in striking black and white, the video has a&nbsp;nostalgic feel, and given the full-circle nature of the filming location,&nbsp;fits in perfectly with the concept.&nbsp;This is a true celebration of people and place. You can see the radiant joy in every frame, and given Murphy's full creative direction of the piece, can tell just how how much of a personal achievement the final video is to her.And as she explains, the parade was all her own doing.[imgtoken data:1]"This idea came to me partly in reaction to making such surreal and ‘other’ imagery for the album artwork, and partly in response to the track itself," she has explained. "I felt I needed a totally authentic space in which to perform Fader. The song is about life and death and music - and so I went home to where it all started for me.&nbsp;"Just as in the music there’s a huge HipHop influence on the video, and for me to have the sheer front for that, it needed to ring true. And so my home town, Arklow was in fact, the only option."It was a huge task to take on, connecting with local government councillors because we had to close the road and then, with local groups of all kinds, musicians, dancers, scouts, majorettes, farmers, fishermen etc and much of my family..."Doing something like this is a massive responsibility and it threatened to overwhelm me at times. But on the day we had Hollywood sunshine and just an incredible sense of goodwill. The people of Arklow made me so proud. It truly turned out to be one of best days of life.”And arguably one of the best videos of her illustrious career...&nbsp;

Pip + Lib direct a heartwrenching promo for&nbsp;JGrrey, featuring Kojey Radical.The track&nbsp;is a tribute to the artist's&nbsp;best friend&nbsp;James, who sadly lost his battle with depression, and marks the first collaboration between JGrrey and Kojey Radical, having known each other for a decade.&nbsp;The video for May depicts a support group which descends into chaos and violence, via an outpour&nbsp;of complex emotions and the fear of being truthful with oneself.[imgtoken data:1]&nbsp;"From the moment we received our first voicenote from Jen [JGrrey], we knew this was gonna be a special project," say Pip + Lib.
