It's eleven years since Sam Brown's first video for Adele. Finally, we have his second, and it was worth the wait.It was Brown's iconic video for <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rYEDA3JcQqw" target="_blank">Rolling In The Deep</a> that kickstarted Adele's ascent to superstardom, of course. Now for Oh My God he has supercharged the elements that made that video a slow-burning masterpiece.[imgtoken data:1]Once again, a performance by Adele - now mature, so much more self-confident - is framed within a series of vignettes that represent the elements of the song. But this time these individual parts of the vision are brought together, all appearing&nbsp;within&nbsp;a single extraordinary camera movement.With the beautifully choreographed flow of characters and objects, the repetition of individuals on screen - primarily&nbsp;Adele herself - Brown has employed motion control camerawork at a level of sophistication and complexity that has been rarely achieved.But if this video is driven by it's concept, it never loses sight of the primary purpose - display the star quality of Adele. This is a stunning, virtuoso combination of&nbsp;artist performance with filmmaking skill and invention.

Madonna, the great agent provocateur of pop, has engaged the vision of Emmanuel Adjei to create her boldest, most provocative video in years - featuring a searing performance by Mykki Blanco, as&nbsp;Joan of Arc.Blanco&nbsp;plays the hunted, defiant and doomed Joan in the Dark Ballet video -&nbsp;the distinctive modern casting of a transexual in&nbsp;the role of a timeless symbol&nbsp;of&nbsp;the powerless and downtrodden, in an otherwise believably medieval setting.It's immaculately created by Adjei on the epic scale that distinguished his MVA-winning video for Sevdaliza's Shahamaran last year, and Blanco fits seamlessly into that world, where beauty and music video aesthetics sit alongside moments of real horror -&nbsp;Adjei certainly&nbsp;does not shy away from Joan's terrible fate. &nbsp;This is also&nbsp;Madonna getting back to one of her favourite themes -&nbsp;the systemic repression&nbsp;of the Catholic Church. Perhaps boldest of all, as she locks horns with an old adversary, she remains largely invisible herself. She only appears in one shot in the entire video.&nbsp;

Co-starring Empire&#39;s Terrence Howard, Madonna&#39;s new video for Ghosttown&nbsp;by longtime collaborator&nbsp;Jonas Åkerlund is mesmerisingly&nbsp;dark,&nbsp;post-apocalyptic, and downright steamy.&nbsp;It starts off with a fuzzy television broadcast on a crummy 60&#39;s&nbsp;TV set,&nbsp;informing us that the&nbsp;Western worlds&#39; cultural capitals have been&nbsp;nuked into oblivion. But all is not lost. Madonna&nbsp;and&nbsp;Terrence Howard have survived.&nbsp;Madonna, in full ring-leader garb, finds a top hat amongst the ruins to complete the look, and&nbsp;foreshadows via song&nbsp;that&nbsp;love can still prevail in this&nbsp;ghost town. And having just avoided shooting her in sniper-mode, Terry&nbsp;does what any warm-blooded human would do if they found Madonna in this kind of situation: tango&nbsp;the pain away and fall&nbsp;passionately in love with her...&nbsp;

And&nbsp;we spoke&nbsp;to Camille and Julien to get an insight into what its like working with the Queen of Pop herself...PROMO: When did Madonna approach you to script on the video - and did it come as a surprise?J.A.C.K.: We were shooting in Prague when we received a phone call from Guy Oseary, Madonna&rsquo;s manager.&nbsp;It was so insane that for a quarter of second we thought it was a joke.What was the brief, and what in your idea for the video appealed to Madonna?&nbsp;There was no brief. One month after the phone call from Guy, we were convened to a meeting in&nbsp;Paris where we had the opportunity to listen to the track for a whole hour in order to come up with&nbsp;ideas and a concept. Then we left the place without the music. We had only a few days to reflect on&nbsp;the project and sketch it, the schedule was really tight.What Madonna liked about it was the pureness of the idea: build up an emblematic character from&nbsp;scratch, the matador, and then create a choreographic play both sensuous and violent.<blockquote>&quot;Madonna needs to understand. She is a&nbsp;huge professional who knows perfectly the techniques to make a film. It was really impressive!&quot;</blockquote>[imgtoken data:1]Who were your other key collaborators for the video?The dream team was composed of: DOP Philippe Lesourd, stylist B. Akerlund, choreographer&nbsp;Megan Lawson, editor Danny Tull.What were the big problems and limitations you faced in bringing the idea to life - and how&nbsp;did you overcome them?Time was the major issue. We had a very complex choreography that was still in progress: 20&nbsp;dancers, harnesses, very physical moves for Madonna&hellip; and only four days to rehearse the whole thing.&nbsp;We really worked very closely with Megan, the choreographer &ndash; who is the most amazingly energetic&nbsp;and optimistic person that we have ever met - thence things worked out just fine.What was it like working with the Queen of Pop herself?Before going to NY, we had a long conversation on the phone with her where we detailed our vision.&nbsp;That&rsquo;s what sealed our relationship for the entire process.&nbsp;Madonna needs to understand. She is a&nbsp;huge professional who knows perfectly the techniques to make a film. It was really impressive!Even&nbsp;if she is surrounded by a big staff, communication between us has always been smooth,&nbsp;straightforward, without any intermediary.&nbsp;On set, mistake was not an option; each take had to be&nbsp;the one.
