Max Siedentopf's new music video for Keinemusik takes the German pun of the 'ear worm'&nbsp;to a whole new level.Director and artist Max Siedentopf is known for his conceptual, whimsical and refreshingly humorous work, and this video delivers the same idiosyncratic energy we have grown to love.&nbsp;Whilst&nbsp;the lyrics are about love, Siedentopf spins the concept in a completely different direction, and what seems to be taken out of context remains in the memory like a good catchy tune.[imgtoken data:1]We open on a bald, middle-aged man ready to feed his pet gecko, before a worm squirms its way into his ear. The man immediately loses his mind, smashing through the wall to the next apartment and flopping over the balcony, falling and bouncing off of a car.&nbsp;As he swivels and gyrates down the street - much like a worm would - passers by also start to lose their minds, as their bodies distort, crush and amalagamate.&nbsp; Shot in Berlin on 16mm, the scenes look weird but cinematic, and build to an absolutely oddball climax.&nbsp;

Max Siedentopf directs a brilliantly absurd promo for Glass Animals - and another&nbsp;Glass Animals lockdown video classic.&nbsp;Shot during the first lockdown of 2020, the concept cleverly uses a single vantage point and a super long zoom lens to uncover a world full of distorted clones and softcore body horror.&nbsp;The band's frontman Dave Bayley is rendered in 3D form&nbsp;and then stripped nude, bloated, twisted and rolled up to create a hallucinatory vision straight out of a Junji Ito novel.The clones are then shown taking&nbsp;over various Haggerston landmarks, congregating and interacting in an increasingly surreal fashion.&nbsp;It's typically weird and wonderful&nbsp;work from Siedentopf - and a&nbsp;timely dive into the uncanny valley.[imgtoken data:1]&nbsp;

She doesn't just drink it, she... well, it's better if you just watch it.The ramping up of this influencer spoof to live action cartoon of zany visual jokes is a hoot, and very welcome right now - and arguably the best use of milk in a video since Blur's Coffee &amp; TV.All in a days work of remote directing for Max Siedentopf, who is having a very creative lockdown...

If it were possible, the prodigiously creative Max Siedentopf has been even more inspired since&nbsp;the Covid-19 crisis emerged...He was quick off the mark with the Dada-esque&nbsp;<a href="http://maxsiedentopf.com/home-alone-survival-guide/" target="_blank">Home Alone: A Survival Guide</a>&nbsp;a few weeks ago. And in the past couple of weeks he has launched a very popular new crowd-sourcing initiative, <a href="http://so-far-sofa.com/" target="_blank">So Far Sofa</a>. The project&nbsp;aims to bring people from all around world together who&nbsp;are stuck at home on their sofas to build the longest sofa in the world.&nbsp;[vidtoken data:0]Just before that took off, we got in touch with Max to see how things were going in his London lockdown, with girlfriend Débora Silva (both above, work it out for yourselves).What were you working on before the lockdown? A campaign for&nbsp;<a href="http://maxsiedentopf.com/gucci-2-1-tutorial-mascara-cabinet" target="_blank">Gucci</a>, new photo series, exhibitions, I launched two new books called&nbsp;<a href="https://hyena-editions.com/products/same-same-but-different" target="_blank">Same, Same But Different&nbsp;</a>and&nbsp;<a href="http://maxsiedentopf.com/toiletpapa" target="_blank">TOILETPAPA</a>&nbsp;and a series of videos.However I recently decided to step down as creative director and partner from my agency to focus full time on directing, photography and my personal projects. Ironically my last day was also the first day of the lockdown, so in more than one way a big life change.<blockquote>I have pretty strict hours when I work and when I won’t.</blockquote>What are you working on now? Since the lockdown has started it inspired quite a few ongoing projects that play off being stuck at home and currently in the midst of planning a new music video which will be shot next week. I think this is also a great moment to experiment with things that you usually don’t have the time or patience for.What's the most surprising, or least predictable thing, that's happened to you during quarantine? My girlfriend moving in with me. She’s the most fun person you could spend the Apocalypse with. We used this time to collaborate on a series of videos. Seeing as we’re not allowed to party at the moment,&nbsp;she scanned me and made me dance in the 4th dimension...[token data:0]What's the favourite part of your daily routine? I recently started a new series called “<a href="http://maxsiedentopf.com/home-alone-survival-guide" target="_blank">Home Alone - A survival guide</a>”. Each day I post a series of instructions on Instagram and ask my followers to interpret these. Waking up in the morning and seeing the crazy results is usually my favourite part:&nbsp;Are things getting harder/better/staying the same? Depends on the time of day. In general I think it’s important that no matter how hard a situation is to keep looking forward and try and see how you can use it to your advantage. I think often the most creative solutions come when you’re faced with some kind of problem and with very little resources have to solve it.&nbsp;[vidtoken data:1]What have you learned about yourself during quarantine? I think it’s especially important when being stuck in the same place all day long to create as much 'variation'&nbsp;to your day and work/life balance as possible, otherwise you can easily lose yourself in a never-ending repetition of the same thing. A SNAFU of FYRE Festival proportions is saved at the last minute by director&nbsp;Max Siedentopf, who steps cheerily into Sigrid's role. Ironically, an apparent&nbsp;logistical cockup has made&nbsp;Mine Right Now&nbsp;a unique, winsome&nbsp;oddity, a&nbsp;tribute to teamwork and can-do optimism.Siedentopf, who is beginning to attract fans of his own,&nbsp;is endlessly memeable. If you have time, the YouTube comments section below his video is a treasure trove of #relatable jokes.&nbsp;The director explains his difficult situation below:"I’m very excited to share the latest music video I directed for the incredible pop artist Sigrid. However, this is not the video I was planning to shoot. We spent over a month preparing for the shoot which was supposed to be in the mountains of Bulgaria. We built all kinds of wonderful sets, however, the night before the shoot we found out that Sigrid wasn’t going to make it to the shoot due to several delayed and cancelled flights. A crew of over 40 people were left ready to shoot but with no artist to film. We could’ve decided to call it a day and just go home, but instead I was forced to take on the role of Sigrid and play her throughout the entire video. A funny irony as I usually come up with ideas but never have to play them myself."As you can imagine, everything is out of sync and my dance moves are so awkward they make you cringe, and my biggest fear is singing in public - you’ll never see me doing Karaoke!&nbsp;However that wasn’t the only thing that went wrong, during the shoot we had big weather storms, our sets collapsed, we got chased from the mountain by park rangers, there was a serial killer on the loose in the area, my dog passed away and much more. The shoot quickly turned into the FYRE festival of music videos but we decided to just keep on going and make a video for Sigrid.&nbsp;Big thanks goes out to my amazing team who all had the nerves, patience and humour to go through with this. Two Door Cinema Club are back with a beautifully wacky form of lyric video from Max Siedentopf, who&#39;s taken inspiration from every single sentence of the band&#39;s new song Talk, and has created into over 90 scenes of colour-coded, off-the-wall visual wit.From using frontman Alex Trimble&#39;s&nbsp;head as a broom, to creating a six legged-man horse, and moving cheerful gymnasts into complicated formations throughout, the video gets literal, goes surreal, and is essentially a refreshing, breathless blast of tongue in cheek entertainment from beginning to an end.&nbsp;

Max Siedentopf&#39;s video for Yak takes us into an appetising scenario - an 80s cooking show, where presenter Olivia Burslem is testing the new Deepfryer 2000, with presenter Oli. But then things get a little out of hand...Fried is all about our unsatisfiable desire to indulge in things that aren&rsquo;t good for us. And this is amply illustrated by&nbsp;Siedentopf with his usual wacky relish, as Olivia and Oli progress from chicken drumsticks to vegetables and then.... other stuff. After this, you might want to stick to salad...

Yak 'Fried' by Max Siedentopf

Max Siedentopf&#39;s completely out-there, live-action-cartoon approach gets full rein to express itself in this enjoyably bonkers video for US electro-DJ Gommi.&nbsp;&nbsp;It&#39;s a&nbsp;stop-motion piece where a middle aged, clock-watching salaryman - played by Gommi himself&nbsp;- utterly loses his grip on reality, as he waits for his tedious&nbsp;9-5 day to end, imagining all sorts of weird stuff in the process. It&#39;s a full-on psychotic episode, to match the lyrics of Gommi&#39;s banging tune Psychosis.Maybe its a bit of a Marmitey approach, but&nbsp;Siedentopf command of a wonderfully nutty visual language is a joy to these jaundiced eyes. And, frankly, thank the lord for a new dance producer with a properly daft sense of humour.

Gommi 'Psychosis' by Max Siedentopf

Max Siedentopf - who recently joined Riff Raff Film&#39;s new talent department Nursery Of Evil &ndash;&nbsp;directs this bonkers new video for Dutch band De Likt.&nbsp;It&#39;s an in-your-face satire of the&nbsp;self-obsessed culture in which we have all become so immersed, the social media fads, and the ridiculous&nbsp;levels of narcissism its encouraging. To make his point, Siedentopf removes the phones out of the picture. And the relentless pace to his cartoonish approach gives it an faintly aggressive edge.&nbsp;
