Niall Trask brings a vintage feel, and a hint of a nautical ghost story,&nbsp;in his atmospheric video for&nbsp;Nadine Shah's Trad.&nbsp;Shah plays the captain and sole crew of a vessel at sea - who is also evidently&nbsp;a bride. And it turns out she is not alone.&nbsp;The abstract imagery has a hint of a narrative, just enough to tease viewers into their own readings of the concept, but it's very much open to interpretation.&nbsp;DoP&nbsp;Rob Jarvis brings a gritty and textured style to the aesthetic, paying homage to vintage cinema with the film stock and traditional lighting setups.&nbsp;Deeply visceral in a somewhat understated way, the haunting concept and isolated location help elevate the sense of drama&nbsp;and mystery, highlighting&nbsp;Trask's skill in building suspense through character.[imgtoken data:1]

Shot in Mexico and London, the new White Lies video&nbsp;by the Mexican director David Pablos takes us to the same place - the bedroom. But what happens there is not entirely what we might expect.&nbsp;With a variety of pairings (and more) Pablos explores the human condition - sleeping, waking up, showing a variety of emotions - from tenderness to&nbsp;thoughtfulness to coldness. Ultimately, as White Lies singer Harry McVeigh joins the cast,&nbsp;the mood is melancholic and reflective rather than arousing.One for the head rather than anywhere else, and very nicely done.

Mike Skinner, erstwhile mastermind of The Streets,&nbsp;directs a music video for Formation, featuring the London motorcycle gang&nbsp;UK Bike Life Crew.It&#39;s an&nbsp;urban, run-and-gun style performance shoot, with a slew of safety-questionable bike stunts and happy accidents mixed in with a solid bit of performance from the band. The video oozes a subtle, menacing coolness - with The Streets&#39; reputation for creative videos from the likes of Dougal Wilson, perhaps we&#39;ll start seeing Skinner develop his craft behind the lens.

It&#39;s a&nbsp;wacky, and highly enjoyable watch, as&nbsp;demonic invocations take place in the heart of suburbia, all to the blistering sounds of the brothers Goonoo, aka KTD.

KTD - Intimacy Dies

Nadine Shah&#39;s very atmospheric, almost Jeff Buckleyesque vocal on To Be A Young Man prompts quite an unlikely visual treatment by Matt Cummins - but it works.&nbsp;Nadine plays a barmaid in a pub where a woozy reality establishes itself, when a decidedly old man (played by Peter Thomas) enters the premises, and his old lady unveils a jar filled with locusts, and then one becomes human. In other words, just the stuff that can happen when the whiskey starts flowing &ndash; in this case, at the Queen&#39;s Head in Brixton.&nbsp;And apparently Matt didn&#39;t need to create a party atmosphere - it was already in full swing when he and DP Ben Scott (who does excellent work here) turned up at the pub on the morning of the shoot.&nbsp;

Ben Rollason made a tremendous performance-based video for Blood Red Shoes towards the end of last year for I Wish I Was Someone Better which we somehow neglected to post up onto PromoNews. 
Now he's made a new one for the same band, and we weren't about to make the same mistake. Say Something Say Anything has a different kind of intensity as that first video, unapologetically addressing a near-taboo subject: the nature of grief.
