While everyone&rsquo;s busy drinking piña coladas and drenching themselves in Kodachrome sunshine, here comes Martin de Thurah with a devastating black &amp; white portrait of a revolution fuelled by lust and desire for &lsquo;Do It Again&rsquo; from Robyn and Röyksopp. Just leave it to this first-rate Danish director to create an atmosphere so unsettling, you&rsquo;ll find yourself feeling utter anxiety and not even knowing why.In a video that entwines several plot lines &mdash; rebels storm a castle, a couple escape impending doom, a woman recovers in a hospital, a dance is violently overthrown by a group of men &mdash; you can&rsquo;t help but watch the video with a knot in your stomach. Although Robyn and Norwegian duo Röyksopp do make an appearance, they&rsquo;re no more than brief cameos. In fact, the momentum of the video is so dizzying, you hardly even notice.The cinematography is harrowing and beautiful. Each shot has a menace bubbling underneath you can scarcely understand before de Thurah pushes you even further into his heartbreaking world. The edit is relentless. The characters so curious. A blazing meteor crashes to earth in Martin De Thurah's beautiful and incredibly atmospheric film for James Blake's new single Retrograde.

A collaboration between A+ and Bacon, Martin's UK and Danish production companies respectively, the promo was shot over a day and a half on the outskirts of Copenhagen - the day before the Mayan's were predicting the demise of planet earth which may have provided for some inadvertent inspiration for the film...

When David Byrne approached Martin De Thurah to make his latest video for his collaboration with St Vincent, Martin wanted to see what happens when a little crowd of people gather 'to explore human existence'. 
This involves Annie Clark (aka St. Vincent) lying in the road a lot, David occasionally swigging from a medicine bottle, and a bit of groovy dancing that echoes (very) old Talking Heads videos... The result is witty and charming. 
Filmed over a long day in Unionville, upstate New York, the video was beautifully shot by DoP Natasha Braier and edited by Martin's long-term collaborator Mikkel EG Nielsen. 
And Martin's intimate portrait of Leslie Feist performing Anti-Pioneer - shot with DoP Kasper Tuxen during downtime on the shoot of The Bad In Each Other video - is <a href="" target="_blank">here</a>.

Martin De Thurah&#39;s epic new video for Feist&#39;s The Bad In Each Other - shot over five days in Mexico City, produced by Academy&#39;s promo division A+, in collaboration with Mexican production company The Lift, and beautifully shot by longtime De Thurah collaborator Kasper Tuxen - has the unmistakeable feel of scenes lifted from a sprawling, multi-storylined movie.It&#39;s not from a movie, but Martin uses the technique to take compelling snapshots of the human condition; its sheer scope and ambition - and its mystery - means that it requires and rewards repeated viewings.&nbsp;

James Blake and Martin De Thurah follow on from their collaboration with James' first video <a href="http://www.promonews.tv/2010/10/18/james-blake%E2%80%99s-limit-to-your-love-by-martin-de-thurah/" target="_blank">Limit To Your Love</a> with the latest single Lindisfarne. 
Shot over the course of a night in the Berlin suburbs, it's an intimate portrait of a girl about to leave a group of friends - who perform a ritual to prepare her for the journey ahead.
"James' music is a challenge to write ideas for,' says Martin. "It's very intimate and very honest, and has so much a space in itself. It easily seems irrelevant to make something beautiful for this music - because it is already so full. It's like it doesn't need so much more."
The kids in the film were cast locally - a mix of young actors, friends and street-cast real fans. It's also the first project to be officially produced through A+, the new division of Academy Films focusing on music videos, content and new media projects.

A different kind of video from Martin de Thurah for the Danish singer Fallulah - there's no jawdropping imagery, no supernatural element. This is all about a very believable scenario, and the characters: a civilized dinner party among happy, successful people. But then things loosen up, and the cracks start to appear. 
Its Martin's second music video in quick succession, following the haunting (supernatural) video for James Blake's <a href="http://www.promonews.tv/2010/10/18/james-blake%E2%80%99s-limit-to-your-love-by-martin-de-thurah/" target="_blank">Limit To Your Love</a>. What's more his beautiful films for the Danish pavilion at the Shanghai Expo are on his Vimeo page, including <a href="" target="_blank">Mermaid</a>.

In typically beautiful (it was shot by Kasper Tuxen) and distinctive fashion Martin takes the commonplace and makes it extraordinary - in this case, subtly subjecting James's apartment to mysterious, time-space continuum-warping galactic forces.

UK Music Video Awards 2009 – all of last night’s winners!

Dark, intense, weird, impenetrable, hyperreal, beautiful... the video for Glasvegas&#39;s Flowers And Football Tops is simply a marvellous expression of Martin De Thurah&#39;s unmistakeable style.Large particles float through a derelict house, past the band, into the orifices of half-naked people. Spotlights burst from their faces. Outside a storm gathers, and the dust builds into a maelstrom of matter, building around the house, penetrating everything.Essentially it&#39;s a brilliant visual manifestation of Glasvegas&#39;s signature, layered, wall of sound. And as usual with Martin&#39;s work, it looks amazing. Working for the first time with DoP Lasse Frank the dust-particle storm was created in-camera. Post work was at Duckling in Copenhagen.&nbsp;
