Michael Cumming, best&nbsp;known for his TV comedy work like Brass Eye and Toast Of London, and his commercials, makes an auspicious music video directing debut for George Ezra that pokes wholesome fun at some of the absurdities of the music industry.The video for Pretty Shining People mocks the pop machine process, with George trying to win a recording contract by performing for&nbsp;a bunch of jaded record execs - all played by kids. They then want to turn the distinctive singer-songwriter into a pop star, by making him smile and dress and dance just like everyone else.Can George win them over by being true to himself? You better believe it.Ezra certainly has a knack for this sort of&nbsp;self-effacing, gently satirical comedy. It&#39;s served him well before&nbsp;- including a recent&nbsp;turn on Reeves and Mortimer&#39;s brilliant&nbsp;Big Night Out - and it does so again here.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Legendary music video director Vaughan Arnell brings his absolute A-game to this collaboration between Sam Smith and future R&amp;B pop queen Normani. It&#39;s a very classy, beautifully-crafted belter of a video.Reflecting the sultry melancholy and brooding sexuality of the song Dancing With A Stranger, solitary Sam Smith is joined in his super modern house in the wintry countryside by ghosts - or holograms who come alive within and around him. It&#39;s a very Arnell-esque way to introduce the dancers that haunt Smith, evoking the classic Fastlove video for George Michael he directed with Anthea Benton in the mid-90s.And then comes the explosively sexy Normani, whose combination of vocals and dance add a new dimension to the song and the video. You can&#39;t take your eyes off her. And although they never meet - appropriately considering the song - the production makes the two performers dovetail together perfectly. There&#39;s great work here by a whole team of people - including DoP Will Bex and Arnell&#39;s regular editor David Webb. A real treat.&nbsp;

A remarkable visual accompaniment to Tibetan singer Yesh&rsquo;s debut track&nbsp;VII&nbsp;by directors Jason Sondock and Simon Davis &ndash; aka rubberband.Teaming up with creative director Bryan Wolff and art director Tal Midyan, the New York-based filmmaking duo produced and directed the video which follows three generations of women in a haunting and symbolic exploration of memory, the afterlife and finding peace in the absence of those we love.The directors are&nbsp;also working on adapting the project into both a physical and online installation (thisisyesh.com), as Sondock explains:&nbsp;&ldquo;The interactive website recognizes your IP address, and every time you visit the site or refresh the player it generates an entirely custom re-edit of the music video via a proprietary algorithm we&rsquo;ve developed.:Conceptually, it plays on the idea of memory and how our memories come to us in entirely unpredictable and nonlinear sequences. It has roughly 6.2 billion different permutations, roughly one for every human on earth.&rdquo;
