Alice Kong creates a world in miniature form, in this wonderful animated&nbsp;promo for Hot Chip.&nbsp;Unable to catch a break, we are introduced to the namesake of the track, Eleanor, as she goes about her day-to-day routine, before finally awakening to the fact that she can create her own destiny.Painstakingly animated in claymation form, the video has a charming, bold aesthetic, which gets brighter and more vibrant as the concept unfolds - and eventually takes an unexpected turn.[imgtoken data:1]"Building this miniature world for Hot Chip was a brilliant creative challenge," Kong says.&nbsp;"The music video tells the tale of our main character, Eleanor who, after a series of unfortunate events, hits a pole in front of an eye glass shop that will… Open her eyes! She then takes control of her environment and twists everything to her advantage by literally sculpting the clay world she lives in."By hand-picking every detail from a brick’s colour to a poster on a wall we were able to sneak in some Easter eggs, which I hope the viewers will have fun spotting!"

Directing duo Mr. Mr. - that's (Mr.) Ato Yankey and (Mr.) Jack Ker - have created an grittily atmospheric portrait of life in the hometown of rapper KiLLOWEN.&nbsp;The track Bar Fights &amp; Poetry is something of an ode to the KiLLOWEN's past, and Yankey and Ker, and DoP Rik Burnell, have captured the essence of the experience with a mixture of performance portraiture and still life photography, shot in the artist's hometown of Hayes, London.The video celebrates the town and culture which moulded the artist, explores the notion of subjectivity, finding beauty in unexpected places and questions our perception of the conventionality within commonly lived experiences.&nbsp;[imgtoken data:1]"The initial inspiration of the video stemmed from the track’s cover art, a portrait of KiLLOWEN in front of a scaffold-wrapped building," say the directors. "Glitter spills out of what would otherwise be, the darkest parts of the image and a chalkboard that reads 'Bar Fights &amp; Poetry'."This duality instilled the video’s theme, and the fisheye lens it was shot on, provided us with the beautiful circular motif [which] threaded throughout the video."That&nbsp;circular theme includes an array of portraits of round objects - from wheels to&nbsp;dartboard, fry-up plate to ecstacy pill, and more - intercut&nbsp;with 360 and fisheye lens shots, and the rapper's reflective performance in locations around the town. It all works really well&nbsp;to bring those opposing forces in the songtitle together.

Jim Pilling captures the challenges of a relationship in this charmingly relatable video&nbsp;for&nbsp;Grow - the second in the series of accompanying visuals&nbsp;for Samm Henshaw's album Untidy Soul.Following the <a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2021/05/20/samm-henshaw-still-broke-jim-pilling/71012">video&nbsp;for Still Broke</a>&nbsp;- featuring Henshaw as a very unhappy, lonely rich guy -&nbsp;the second chapter takes us back two years, exploring&nbsp;the new romance of Samm and Tiana Major9's characters Sonny and Selah, and the trials and tribulations that come with moving in together and living with each other does not always go to plan.&nbsp;Shot on 16mm by DoP Rik Burnell, the visual builds a slightly surreal comic world which begins when the couple visit a plant store to buy a plant for their new home, and encounter the world's most unhelpful shop owner. Tiana is offered a bonsai tree by a mysterious elderly shop assistant which comes to symbolise the health of their relationship.[imgtoken data:1]Co-written by Pilling and Henshaw, the video develops the slightly surreal comic tone of Still Broke, with the indie-urban sophistication of&nbsp;Spike Lee's early&nbsp;comedies. There is a&nbsp;combination of&nbsp;dialogue and subtitles to push forward the story of rising tensions between the characters, and Henshaw and Tiana are pitch-perfect in their roles as the couple unable to make a last step towards contentment.&nbsp;&nbsp;“In the track, Samm’s exploring the idea of having to work at a relationship, and it not always being easy for it to be good," explains&nbsp;Jim Pilling. "He and I built this world around the track, and the story goes to show that even some sage advice from a guy with a bonsai tree isn’t always enough to save a relationship.”

Ian Robertson returns with his first music video in ages - in fact, his first made in the UK in eight years&nbsp;-&nbsp;for electronic music duo Honne and their&nbsp;new track What Would You Do?The concept explores a suburban love story between two young characters, played brilliantly by&nbsp;Daniel Ooko and&nbsp;Rebecca Louise.&nbsp;Egged on by a vision of featured artist&nbsp;Pink Sweat$ - reflected in a puddle -&nbsp;Ooko gains the courage to approach his neighbour, impressing her with his slick yet understated dance moves. They take a drive through the town - well, at least they would do, if he could get the car in gear.[imgtoken data:1]And they almost make out, until a guitar-wielding leather jacket-clad bully persuades Louise to leave with him, ending in a climactic face off - all while Honne's James and Andy cameo as neighbourhood workers, quietly observing proceedings."Honne came to me with an idea about a young boy that takes revenge on his bullies," reveals Robertson.&nbsp;"I thought the lyrics were screaming out for a love story, so I took the elements of Honne's idea and rejigged it into a weird offbeat love triangle!"&nbsp;It's absurd fun, in the same vein as Robertson's lighthearted work for giant dance hits like <a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2013/02/28/duke-dumont-ft-ame-need-u-100-ian-robertson/17112" target="_blank">Duke Dumont's Need U (100%)</a>&nbsp;a few years ago. An unconventional yet charming concept that perfectly fits the track.&nbsp;

Samm Henshaw is living in the lap of&nbsp;luxury in huge mansion, but also in a pit of sadness, in Jim Pilling's video for Still Broke.The first in a series of videos for Untidy Soul, Henshaw's upcoming debut album, Pilling establishes the off-kilter, quietly comic premise from the start, as Henshaw stares out from his gigantic gilded cage before resuming his chores of ironing fifty quid notes.&nbsp;Shot on 16mm by DoP Rik Burnell, a series of slow zooms and stylised camerawork creates this amusing disconnect between&nbsp;remarkable&nbsp;wealth and opulence with Henshaw's&nbsp;abject dejection and lack of fulfillment. It all comes to a head when he receives a message&nbsp;from an visitor, to shake up him from his misery.With its playfulness and visual style - and the promise of Samm venturing out into the world in the next episode&nbsp;- this one sets up the Untidy Soul series very nicely indeed.[imgtoken data:1]

James Slater directs a gothic fantasy for indie-rock outfit Pale Waves.&nbsp;Taking place in a nondescript church, the performance video is simple in concept, but executed to perfection, with vocalist Heather Baron-Gracie as the constant focus as a radiant goth bride.&nbsp;DoP&nbsp;Jon Muschamp's lighting adds an ethereal feel to the aesthetic, with effervescent bursts of colour inspired by stained glass windows and blue-tinged key lights to create a cold, almost haunting atmosphere.&nbsp;The production design is also a highlight, utilising scattered practical lights and candles to elevate the enigmatic concept.

Rottingdean Bazaar - fashion design and artist duo James Theseus Buck and Luke Brooks - have made a brilliant music video directing debut for South London band Dry Cleaning, where&nbsp;vocalist Florence Shaw becomes the commanding presence in her own miniature nightclub.Shaw's face pops&nbsp;into view on stage of the club, framed by its curtains to perform Scratchcard Lanyard - which is&nbsp;the least mundane way to perform a song that celebrates the ephemeral and humdrum. This surreal comic masterstroke commands the whole video, not just because the set design of the club, and Shaw's deadpan delivery are so great. Turns out that its all part of a proper band performance too.&nbsp;We spoke to James and Luke of Rottingdean Bazaar about the experience making the Scratchcard Lanyard video.Did you make the tiny club yourselves? RB: We found the basic structure of the club about four years ago in a flea market near where we live. We had been using it and characters from it in stills photography. Recently we refurbished it by adding a stage, curtains, working lights, new props and made it function with the body by adding a hole and a supporting stand. 90% of the light in the club and on Florence came from the miniature lights themselves.&nbsp;&nbsp;[imgtoken data:1]&nbsp;<blockquote>90% of the light in the club and on Florence came from the miniature lights themselves.</blockquote>And is this your first attempt at filmmaking? We work as artists and come from a background of fashion design, creative direction, styling and art object making. This was our first time directing a film-based project. The last couple of years we have focused a lot on still image making but we have always been interested in film.One of the photographers we work with a lot, Annie Collinge, had often been saying to us that certain still ideas we suggest might lend themselves to moving image. We have learnt so much doing it, and are keen to do more in the medium.How did you get involved in the project, and come up with the idea?&nbsp; The last year or so we had been thinking that we would like to try and make a music video. The band emailed us out of the blue and we asked straight away if we could make a music video for one of their new songs. When we found the club years back, we felt then that it could be good for moving image. So we remembered that thought and proposed the idea.&nbsp;
