If you could go on a date with anyone living or dead, who would it be? Alt-J made their picks and that became the basis of Young Replicant&#39;s science fiction dance film.Acting on behalf of the band, a machine in a subterranean bunker chooses Sylvia Plath, Lee Miller and Anne Boleyn, or at least it chooses their memories. Projected through small glass discs we intercut between these haunting, animated dance scenes (choreographed by Darcy Wallace) that are given a personality based on a computer&#39;s understanding of history.There&#39;s a detached, uncanny valley element to the clip - Alex Takacs aka Young Replicant&#39;s second for the band&#39;s current album, after the brilliant&nbsp;<a href="http://www.promonews.tv/videos/2017/04/18/alt-j-3ww-young-replicant" target="_blank">3WW</a> earlier this year &ndash; as these renditions of historical figures live again for a fleeting moment before fading with the light of the projector.

Bonobo soundtracks The Rapture in this head-spinning, hyper-detailed video by Dave Bullivant, aka BISON.With erratic, repetitive cuts showing a panicked woman, played by Gemma Arterton, running through London during what appears to be The Ascension, you could be forgiven for thinking that the video starts and ends with this clever editing concept. You would, however, be very wrong.Buried within the frames of this video are tons of visual curiosities, Easter eggs and elements of supernatural foreshadowing that show both an incredible attention to detail, and Bison&#39;s smart willingness to exploit the average viewer&#39;s inability to notice subtle changes on a first viewing.&nbsp;

Sam Pilling&nbsp;directed this music video&nbsp;with&nbsp;short film qualities for&nbsp;rising R&amp;B star Dornik&#39;s song&nbsp;Drive.&nbsp;The video&#39;s authentic feel is the key to its success,&nbsp;capturing&nbsp;the excitement of young love that doesn&#39;t feel in any way staged. The video follows a couple of teens&#39; lives as confide&nbsp;in their&nbsp;best friends about their relationship,&nbsp;hook&nbsp;up in secret, and sneak&nbsp;out to see each other.&nbsp;All the while Dornik&#39;s track eases in and out of the story, giving it a freshness that makes the&nbsp;minimal&nbsp;narrative come alive.

Liverpudlian fourpiece Clean Cut Kid&#39;s first single Vitamin C comes with a video by David Mould that mirrors the&nbsp;pleasingly edgy sound of the track by introducing a protagonist who&#39;s quite a force to be reckoned with.&nbsp;Part-graceful dancer, part-volatile menace, he&#39;s a character who performs&nbsp;a lovely classic dance&nbsp;choreography yet wordlessly threatens&nbsp;all the other customers in a pub with his free and easy handling of his little friend, a large&nbsp;baseball bat.Mould collaborated with Holly Blakey on creating the movements&nbsp;of this walking contradiction - who after causing mischief among the patrons, and&nbsp;thoroughly entertaining himself, manages to&nbsp;find a partner willing to join him for the finale.

Bloody bloggers. Lily Allen wrote URL Badman&nbsp;about the internet&#39;s hipster trolls&nbsp;in response to the backlash she received from her song Hard Out Here. The Sacred Egg&#39;s&nbsp;Ed and Alex have expanded on that idea, translating the wrongness of trolling&nbsp;bloggers into a&nbsp;physical glitch. As a result, they have&nbsp;produced an intriguing visual effect.&nbsp;Exploiting their debatable fashion sense, Lily&#39;s keyboard cowboys&nbsp;get split in half, and&nbsp;warp into increasingly bizarre rainbows. This it was achieved in a fairly&nbsp;ingenious fashion - sets of twins were composited to appear as one person split in two, with individual pixels being stretched to achieve the final result.Another strong idea by The Sacred Egg after their videos for Breach and DJ Fresh - and a deadeye hit on a unpleasant modern phenomenon. On <a href="http://www.nowness.com/day/2014/3/24/3759/jake-bugg-messed-up-kids?icid=previously_home" target="_blank">Nowness</a>, Jake Bugg and Andrew Douglas explain that the stereotypical choice of location and casting to express grittiness in music videos - namely the council estate and its inhabitants - is turned on its head in the video for Messed Up Kids.To Jake, it&#39;s the home he has left behind due to his global success (with Bow in East London standing in for Nottingham&#39;s Clifton). And through the use of the Phantom camera, and striking tracking shots &ndash; captured by DoP Justin Brown and an Electronic Tracking Vehicle, driving around the tableaux at 25mph &ndash;&nbsp;a modern scene of urban life&nbsp;is dissected.&nbsp;&nbsp;This beautifully constructed video, that brings to mind the classic &#39;skinhead&#39;&nbsp;Guardian commercial,&nbsp;is also the auspicious first production out of Untitled, the new music video outfit out of JJ Stereo headed up by Natalie Arnett.
