After their excellent videos for the likes of LarzRanda and <a href="http://www.promonews.tv/videos/2015/09/10/sheep-dog-wolf-breathe-thunderlips" target="_blank">Sheep, Dog &amp; Wolf</a>&nbsp;in New Zealand,&nbsp;Auckland-based directing duo&nbsp;Jordan Dodson&nbsp;and Sean Wallace - aka THUNDERLIPS &ndash; make an impressive first British video for the returning Two Door Cinema Club. It&nbsp;is&nbsp;a thing of grotesque, slightly&nbsp;bewildering beauty.In the the video for Are We Ready? (Wreck) video, the&nbsp;three members of&nbsp;TDCC&nbsp;are all noxiously cheesy spokesmen&nbsp;for a series of terrible ads for&nbsp;brands with names corresponding to the song&#39;s lyrics.&nbsp;Two of them have been luridly&nbsp;transformed,&nbsp;by Melissa Lackersteen&#39;s makeup job,&nbsp;into puffy-faced, surgery-enhanced&nbsp;versions of themselves. But there&#39;s a battle going on between this artificiality and reality underneath, expressed through lead singer Alex Trimble&#39;s angst and&nbsp;slowly disintegrating face.It&#39;s visually arresting and&nbsp;audacious, and after a couple of views (maybe trying to figure it out what&#39;s going on), another catchy TDCC song will be stuck in your brain.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Comedian and TV presenter Simon Amstell goes&nbsp;behind the camera to direct Something More, a surreal comedy&nbsp;about post break-up loneliness, with music by and starring James Righton, formerly of Klaxons, now operating as Shock Machine.In this version of reality, all happy and social&nbsp;people wear multioloured&nbsp;clown make-up.&nbsp;So sad and lonely&nbsp;Righton has to remove his, and walk around&nbsp;London bare-faced. Until he cannot bear his outsider status any longer.So are the makeup wearers really happy after all?&nbsp;Amstell is well-known for being a connoisseur of misery and gloom, and Something More is a thought-provoking allegory on modern ways.&nbsp;The video debuted on Channel 4&#39;s Random Acts but the full version is now online for you to get sad about - but also marvel at the incredible variation in the make-up.

BISON&#39;s new video for Rosie Lowe&#39;s Worry Bout Us&nbsp;starts as a simple performance, then turns into something more complex - and literally twisted - as Rosie comes in contact, and then inextricably entwined with a male dancer.&nbsp;In characteristic BISON fashion, as with videos for London Grammar, Jon Hopkins and others,&nbsp;a strong visual technique is delivered in a crisp, elegant aesthetic.&nbsp;The sinuous&nbsp;&#39;slit-scan&#39; effect employed here has been around for a while, but rarely has it seemed so well-matched to the music. Nor has Rosie Lowe looked so good in a video.For the past year, BISON has been just Dave Bullivant &ndash; his former partner&nbsp;Owen Silverwood has now left the team to focus on his stills photography &ndash; and as he explains below, the technical direction of&nbsp;the video&nbsp;was wholly&nbsp;led by the lyrical content, after his discussions with Lowe.And BISON has now joined Good Egg for representation for commercials and music videos. &quot;BISON&nbsp;joining Good Egg has made our week,&quot; says Good Egg executive producer&nbsp;John Hassay. &quot;I&#39;ve followed David&#39;s work since he started out at Blinkink and have followed his career develop ever since.&nbsp;London Grammar is a creative high point in music video and we&#39;re looking forward to building on that calibre of work.&quot;&nbsp;

For the video for Settle Down, The 1975&#39;s singer&nbsp;Matthew Healy got together with Nadia Marquard Otzen, to bring to life a story that&#39;s been very close to his heart. In fact, he&#39;s been dreaming it for years.&nbsp;The video, conceived by Matthew and directed by Nadia, is superficially a drama within the hard-bitten confines of its setting in the North-East of England. But in fact, its about the bond between two boys that transcends grim reality - evocatively shot by DoP&nbsp;Martijn Van BroekHuizen &ndash;&nbsp;and reaches into the supernatural.&nbsp;&quot;I used to have a reoccurring dream when I was younger,&quot; says Matthew. &quot;The narrative was loosely based, but the setting was always the surrounding areas of where my parents grew up. I think I was slightly obsessed with how certain, bleak areas of Northern England contained my history and the soul of my family, my psyche. I always felt connected and disconnected at the same time. Metaphorically and physically I would visit these places frequently as a youngster and in turn have used them as the setting to a lot of the stories in The 1975. The North East was the visual setting to my formative years.&quot;I suppose, like any narrative, the meaning and the connotations within the story are subjective. I&rsquo;ve always been quite fascinated with the potency of same sex relationships, platonic or otherwise. I was brought up in a very open-minded environment, somewhere I felt that, whoever I was, I would be accepted. With this understanding I was also very aware of others, school friends, acquaintances - whom, due to where we lived, probably didn&rsquo;t have such a comfortable place to grow up. We were unaffected and affected by taboos and the small-minded at the same time.&nbsp; I&rsquo;ve dreamt the story of these two boys on countless occasions - every time drawing a different conclusion on its meaning.&quot;With &lsquo;Settle Down&rsquo; I wanted to make a story about the extension of that dream, a video that explores love, a video that was as fantastical.&quot;Upon meeting Nadia, I told her about my dream. We sat for hours looking through pictures and talking - it was decided in those moments. We were just to film my dream. The process of making this video was so intensely exciting for me as I was finally working through and figuring out exactly what this place, this story and these characters meant to me. I think now that I understand it. But I&rsquo;m totally open to suggestions / interpretations.&quot;

In the spirit of the times, Rizzle Kicks and Corin Hardy have made a very sexy video for Skip To The Good Bit - but where they tend to go raunchy in the US, the Brits go saucy&nbsp;- even if the inspiration comes from John Hughes&#39;s 80s&nbsp;high-school movies...&nbsp;&nbsp;It&#39;s unlikely to go down well with the UK educational establishment, but RK and Corin have concocted Britain&#39;s&nbsp;horniest school &nbsp;- mainly (but not entirely) down to Jordan and Harley brewing up something suspiciously similar to a mind-altering drug in the science lab.&nbsp;Corin takes full advantage of Rizzle Kicks&#39; impishness - and willingness to take on comic character roles - to make this full-on sex comedy (remarkably its the first video he&#39;s directed in more than a year as he&#39;s been working full-time on getting his first feature off the ground - it shoots early next year).&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;And&nbsp;there&#39;s lots of BTS photos and video&nbsp;at <a href="http://www.corinhardy.com/blog/" target="_blank">Corin&#39;s blog</a>.&nbsp;
