Directing trio Crowns &amp; Owls transport Octavian to a surreal wonderland in the hypnotic visual for Poison, negotiating a world between love, lust... and something much darker.&nbsp;Utilising four cameras - including the FLIR thermal camera - the visual is a tapestry of experimental setups, each shot in a stylised, hyper-exaggerated way. Turning traditional rap videos on their head, performance is still very much the focus of the video, yet Kaname Onoyama's mind-bending cinematography adds a standout unique flair and polish.&nbsp;CROWNS &amp; OWLS:“It was rad to build a world around this tune, and to have had the trust from Octavian to try something we’re not really seeing in UK rap videos. There’s some really nice themes going on in the song, but we focused on playing with the central idea of lust and imagining that as a poisonous substance."Using a custom rig we were able to use a dual camera system; one capturing reality whilst the other was simultaneously capturing a thermal version of the same shot. This allowed us to seamlessly slip between two worlds as we’re following the artists through a fever dream."The video was shot just before the UK Covid-19 lockdown, with post happening remotely during quarantine. Henry Scholfield is back with Dua Lipa. Following on from his monumental UKMVA-winning videos for New Rules&nbsp;and IDGAF,&nbsp;Scholfield has created another visual feast for Break My Heart - taken from her just-released second album Future Nostalgia -&nbsp;utilising clever camera trickery,&nbsp;great choreography and perfectly stylised production design to create this epic&nbsp;emotional narrative.We follow Dua on her journey as scenarios materialise and&nbsp;amplify the emotional state, illustrated here through fast-paced transitions and&nbsp;setups, mirroring the heartfelt lyrics.&nbsp;The video which was shot in Bulgaria uses a colour palette of early Almodóvar mashed up with mid 90s styling via the iridescent surreal-scapes of Japanese love hotels. Production had their work cut out with VFX, choreography, wire work, stunts - and a tilting set. The sets were built across three stages, and beautifully realised by production designer Mark Connell.Scholfield explains: “I wanted to create something that felt like that tumble dryer of emotions when falling for someone who’s pulling away from you. Dua’s perfomance was brilliant (as always!) taking us on her journey from vulnerable to empowered, via her playful cheeky-charming self.”And the video, single and the album release were all brought forward,&nbsp;despite the Coronavirus pandemic, on Dua Lipa's command. She states: “I hope it brings you some happiness, and I hope it makes you smile, and I hope it makes you dance."&nbsp;

Her dance video for <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fRh_vgS2dFE" target="_blank">Justin Bieber's Sorry</a> is one of the most viewed music videos of all time, and now director/choreographer Parris Goebel is back with JB, creating another all-dancing alternate video for the comeback single Yummy, featuring her Royal Family dancers and 'Sorry' girls. It's like Sorry - only bigger, slicker, more spectacular.This showstopper features an awesome troupe of 52 female dancers and the power of the video rests in the fact that you are always aware fo the sheer size and uniform excellence of this huge group. It's so impressive that this video was preceded by the release of <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jtVjmcujrIg" target="_blank">footage of the rehearsal</a>, earlier this month.Shot entirely on 35mm by DoP Kaname Onoyama,&nbsp;the camera glides around, above,&nbsp;or in the midst of the girls, but it always seems to be keeping the all or most of the 52 within the frame.It is testament to the celebrated skill of Goebel as a director and choreographer that the group radiates personality as well as sheer precision. And her camera loves each and every one of them.

Stormzy is a&nbsp;mentor in this typically ambitious video by Henry Scholfield, starring the artist’s real-life nephews.&nbsp;Scholfield has had a hell of a year. His videos are ubiquitous and his name has become shorthand for a specific brand of technical flair. You know when you’re watching one. Big budget grime videos are a hotbed of digital and practical effects, but the breakneck speed of this video is so impressive, even the famously feral YouTube audience have sat up to pay attention. A regular, middle-aged couple end up mixing with with models and fashionistas on the sort of luxury holiday you only see in a Calvin Harris promo, in the latest Ed Sheeran vid.Andy McLeod gently skewers&nbsp;the emphasis on youth, beauty and luxury in music videos - a good foil for the sentiment of Ed's Beautiful People. The sensible couple try their best to enjoy the opulent lifestyle they have been randomly dropped into, slightly bemused by the boisterous, wasteful behaviour of the young people around them. But after exhausting&nbsp;stints on a yacht, a stretched limo and private jet, they decide to pack it in and get back on the omnibus for a bit of peace and quiet.The video features a handful of comped-in,&nbsp;blink-and-you’ll-miss-it cameos from Ed Sheeran. The self-effacing singer has always taken a backseat in his own promos, often relying on a stand-in or avatar. More recently, this decision is paying off in a series of increasingly high-concept narrative pieces.
