Billie Eilish is a choking fallen angel in this oily creature feature, directed by Rich Lee. This part-sequel to <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HUHC9tYz8ik">Bury a Friend</a> feels like the spiritual culmination of the various themes and motifs that circulate in Eilish’s artistry: the use of the abject, the <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DyDfgMOUjCI">gallows humour</a>, the <a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2018/10/30/billie-eilish-when-partys-over-carlos-lopez-estrada/55713">black viscera</a>, and the burdensome injustices handed to the youth.It is testament to Eilish - the salience of her mythology and her unshakeable fanbase - that this single and video are even allowed to exist. <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=79fzeNUqQbQ">Gyrating in front of a crucifix</a> may have done Madonna more good than bad in 1988. But conventional wisdom tends to decree that, if you have the profile, and you’re itching to piss off American Christians, do it gently. And with enough cynicism to give yourself some plausible deniability. But thanks to this eagerly macabre video, and a couple of choice lyrics (“even God herself … will want the Devil on her team”), the young star has developed a <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/music/shortcuts/2019/sep/09/is-billie-eilish-a-devil-worshipper-hell-no">reputation as a Satan worshipper</a>.But Eilish’s stunt mangling of Christian symbolism belies a more urgent message. Timed to coincide with the 2019 Climate Action Summit, the video is an environmental call to arms. This hellish vision of the future alludes to both oil spills and the 2018 California Wildfires.This is Rich Lee’s second monster movie released this month. Eilish’s shuffling angel is a cousin of Lana Del Rey’s vengeful giantess in <a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2019/09/11/lana-del-rey-doin-time-rich-lee/60720">Doin’ Time</a>. The two videos share a similar crew, including Christopher Probst, ASC and Production Designer Brandon Mendez. The pyro, wings and oil were all achieved using partially practical effects.

Look up! It’s the Queen of Monsters. Lana Del Rey plays a vengeful giantess in this woozy romp by Rich Lee.In an allusion to the ’50s B Movie Attack of the 50 Foot Woman, Del Rey wanders peacefully through downtown Los Angeles towards Venice Beach. Suddenly, the video changes gear. It’s revealed that this entire setup was just a sequence from a pulpy drive-in movie. A different Lana watches, replete in a blonde Shake-N-Go wig, and wonders where her no-good date has gone. Then, in a sublime fantasia, the giantess Lana dances on Venice Beach, before emerging from the screen in a blast of sand to wreak havoc in the real world.Rich Lee is Del Rey’s current go-to director, and this video comes hot off the heels of their double video for <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LrSX_OcpeJg">Fuck It I Love You/The Greatest</a>. Less recently, he directed a cosmic delight for<a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2017/02/22/lana-del-rey-love-rich-lee/46369"> Love</a>. Doin’ Time was shot by Christopher Probst, ASC and edited by Logan Hefflefinger.Allegedly, the video’s schedule forced them to shoot Lana’s elements before the backgrounds, making this a wild achievement for the crew and VFX team. For an artist who has built an entire mythology out of restraint and careful repetition, this is an unusual deviation - a rare foray into kitsch comedy. But in a way, nothing could be more Lana Del Rey than a 50ft Lana Del Rey reclining in the LA basin on a hot afternoon. The risk paid off; this ranks amongst the her most iconic videos.

Producer Justin Diener explains: "When Andreas was a young artist he did a year long residency in a small town in the Scottish Hebrideans Islands called Lochmaddy. His only friend was a local Shepard named Adam. 
"One night at the pub Adam told Andreas about a newborn sheep he had just delivered that was horribly deformed, the creature was like a fuzzy egg with one arm, a mouth and one eye. Sadly, Adam had to kill the poor beast. 
"Andreas was obviously haunted by this story when he created this video for Madder Red. We witness the final day of "Bommel" had he been adopted by actress Kristen Bell and raised in Mar Vista, CA".

A bearded child-god, protected by Amazon women, is called upon to explain a wondrous miracle occurrence at the beach. And what a scene it is to behold: it's as nasty as it wants to be.
It's the latest from Andreas Nilsson for Miike Snow, and another very wacky tale. With a completely genius pay-off. 
It was shot in Kingston, Jamaica - shortly before some very nasty things went down over there. Although this production also had its fair share of tasty adventures by the sounds of it. Producer Jason Botkin was relieved of a sizeable amount of cash, and was close to a machine gun shooting of a bus. "But overall I had a great time," he says. That's the spirit.
