Sophia is known for her popular Afro dance moves which is a trend right now in the dance world and I felt it was important to appeal to the younger audience. And last, but not least, Priscilla, who has not danced for years, but her body structure and posture is just phenomenal. She is tall and slim and can create these beautiful shapes and poses."The crew and cast were meticulously chosen and they really executed my vision perfectly. Overall the process working with her estate, Verve and Untold Studios was a truly nourishing and liberating experience and I hope the world enjoys it as much as I did honouring the queen and legend that is Nina Simone.”

Nathan James Tettey directs a slick promo for Fredo's Flowers &amp; The Snow.&nbsp;We see the artist perform as the camera seamlessly pivots around the space, while the extravagant backdrops switch between an icy wonderland, experiencing an interior blizzard,&nbsp;and Fredo's&nbsp;inner sanctum bursting with homegrown buds. No, he's not really talking about the wonders of nature here.The video boasts high-end art direction from production designer Jakob Grierse, impressive cinematography by&nbsp;Jomar O’Meally, and a number of scantily-clad females. But this is really about the mesmerising charisma of Fredo. One of his best videos so far.&nbsp;

Melody Maker explores freedom and restrictions in her hallucinatory promo for Greentea Peng.&nbsp;Locked inside an apartment building, we see the artists isolated from the world outside, unable to connect with&nbsp;anything outside of the four walls that encase them.&nbsp;The hazy cinematography blurs into a surrealist dreamworld, as the artists&nbsp;appear as giant döppelgängers,&nbsp;staring at their true selves&nbsp;through the window glass as if they were experimental guinea pigs.&nbsp;It's a clever commentary on the extended period of time we have been trapped away from each other, and the ongoing severance of our natural ties to the world and our true purpose.[imgtoken data:1]

Having collaborated with Headie One and Fred again.. on her latest release, FKA twigs has collaborated&nbsp;with director Emmanuel Adjei on the magisterial video for Don't Judge Me - a metaphorical exploration of&nbsp;the experience of being Black and British today.This is&nbsp;a double whammy of two distinct sequences that have their own riveting quality, and then weave together towards the greater message. Like most things created by twigs and Adjei - directors who are working together for the first time -&nbsp;they gradually create&nbsp;an indelible&nbsp;impression.[imgtoken data:1]On the one hand, there is twigs herself, sitting in a chair&nbsp;a grand room in a grand English house. But can she escape what reveals itself to be a gilded cage. Before she can get through the door of the room, unseen forces drag her back to the chair. When she negotiates the door, she only gets so far before flying back to her first position once again. It's a continual struggle, which increasingly calls upon angular choreography as well as wirework.&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;And then in a mysterious counter-scenario to twigs's struggles, we are taken into another scene, the details of strange and shocking&nbsp;sculpture, and the people surrounding it. The artwork is Kara Walker's fountain sculpture Fons Americanus, a&nbsp;satirical take on a classic Victorian mode of art, cast in concrete - which has exhibited at the Tate Modern in London. The cast around the sculpture are eminent Black Britons - listed below - who have shared a particular struggle, shaped by&nbsp;cultural, systemic and structural biases,&nbsp;to be who they have become.[imgtoken data:2]"From someone’s appearance, we are unable to judge whether a person discriminates over colour, sex, religion, or gender," says Emmanuel Adjei, talking about the theme of The Invisible Oppressor, which has informed the video for Don't Judge Me.&nbsp;"The oppressors within the people surrounding us, most often remain invisible until their abuse against others is revealed. This is one of the reasons why, for generations, discrimination is so hard to fight. Who must the victim fight against if it can’t identify the perpetrator?[imgtoken data:3]"In this audio-visual document we get to witness artists FKA Twigs and Headie One, amongst other Black British influentials, fighting against invisible forces of judgement and oppression. Having the enormous Victorian-inspired fountain 'Fons Americanus'&nbsp;by visual artist Kara Walker - depicting the historical, sorrowful story of slavery and colonization - as our setting, and particularly as the spirit of the film, this important monument creates another layer of depth and meaning to an invisible yet shared history."

Following the visual for <a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2020/05/21/dc-neighbourhood-dir-lx/64919" target="_blank">Neighbourhood</a>&nbsp;earlier this year, DC collaborates with&nbsp;Dir. Lx once again to create the hugely stylish video for the reflective Tears, Sweat &amp; Blood.&nbsp;Exploring the hustle and grind it takes to get to where you want to be in life, the mixed-media concept combines striking set-ups, plus both&nbsp;motion&nbsp;and still images, to build upon the introspective themes in the track.&nbsp;Production designer&nbsp;Jade Mortimer introduces a punch of colourful art direction&nbsp;to the concept, focusing on umbrellas as a shield from the elements, and shattered glass to represent the dichotomy between danger and creativity.&nbsp;DoP&nbsp;Sam Meyer uses vibrant&nbsp;coloured lighting and offbeat angles to&nbsp;extend&nbsp;this sense of style to the cinematography, elevating the aesthetic whilst honing in on the main focus of the video: "Only the paranoid survive".&nbsp;

A self-destructive&nbsp;twentysomething regains his sense of self-worth&nbsp;in a boxing club in Danny Chan's stirring video for singer-songwriter Declan J Donovan.&nbsp;This is a tale of redemption which has both a classic structure and a very contemporary feel, addressing issues of masculinity in a rapidly changing world. This has&nbsp;a gritty, almost documentary film look, and the performances have an energy and passion that comes from experience. As Danny Chan reveals below, his cast of unknowns have all learned important lessons in character-building in the boxing ring.&nbsp;&nbsp;Intercut&nbsp;with a performance by Donovan in the same Islington boxing gym, DoP David Wright's cinematography, including&nbsp;frenetic closeups of fighting and training, also places the viewer&nbsp;in the protagonist's shoes - a journey of&nbsp;frustration, guilt, ultimately discovery and redemption.[imgtoken data:1]&nbsp;

Will Hooper directs a thrilling&nbsp;performance video for Bree Runway's Ape Shit, with a proper nod to old-school Missy Elliott.&nbsp;Cycling furiously through a selection of set pieces, we see Bree confidently embody several characters, with sharp styling and tight art direction, switching the usual clichés on their heads to create something fresh and unique.Will Hooper and&nbsp;art director&nbsp;Laura Little channel&nbsp;a Nineties/Noughties vibe into the set design and props, whilst DP Stefan Yap&nbsp;matches the aesthetic by utilising multiple&nbsp;formats, including night-vision and lo-fi digital cameras. It's&nbsp;an unabashed, hypnotic journey, with editor&nbsp;Sam Allen setting a breathless pace from the beginning.At only two and a half minutes, Hooper packs a huge amount into the runtime - a&nbsp;dynamic and high-energy promo in his trademark style, that boosts the buzz and mystique around the dynamic Ms Runway.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Nana Rogues and Ms Banks team up in&nbsp;Darnell Depradine's vibrant video&nbsp;for Issues.&nbsp;Taking place inside a nondescript flat in London, the concept is split between two main setups- Rogues'&nbsp;neon lit performance&nbsp;in the living room and Banks in the bathroom, soaking in the tub surrounded by flowers and luxury.&nbsp;DoP&nbsp;Francis Lane utilises burst photography to create glitchy and erratic cutaways, helping&nbsp;bridge the scenes&nbsp;and&nbsp;create a striking&nbsp;change of pace. These shots are juxtaposed with the glossy and considered cinematography in the main scenes. A heavy use of green lighting is a brave and bold choice for a video like this, but works&nbsp;nicely and sets it apart from other current videos in the genre.&nbsp;Simple yet incredibly ambitious in its concept, Issues is a strong visual which highlights Rogues' and Banks' performance skills, whilst bringing something fresh and exciting to the table.&nbsp;

Declan Mckenna performs in a fluffy cloud like world that descends into glitchy chaos in Will Hooper's video for Beautiful Faces.&nbsp;Opening with a studio setup of Declan and his band, the utopian visuals are crammed full of colour and anachronistic styling. Within moments, the video is glitching with odd frames spliced between shots, the dreamy aesthetic slowly corrupting and morphing into something unusual.&nbsp;Utilising AR technology, the visuals become more and more CGI-driven,&nbsp;the artist's likeness bending, transforming and flying through the sky. Reminiscent of a fatal computer error in&nbsp;The Sims,&nbsp;the characters melt into the walls, duplicate and bend their limbs into unhuman form.This balance of live action and visual effects is an interesting&nbsp;departure for Will Hooper - who's last&nbsp;released video is a <a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2019/10/16/slaves-one-more-day-wont-hurt-will-hooper/61400" target="_blank">furiously intense&nbsp;video for Slaves</a>&nbsp;-&nbsp;topped off with a confident and assured performance from McKenna.&nbsp;

Nathan James Tettey delivers a different view of Stormzy in the Own It video - a slick portrait of a developing romance which takes it from both sides.As well as some slick performance set-ups - and revealing the problems with shooting on a London roof in a month when its constantly&nbsp;raining&nbsp;- the video is interesting in focussing on a strong female character, who Stormzy eventually hooks up with in the club.Big Mike also gets able support from Nigerian superstar Burna Boy, and big buddy and regular collaborator&nbsp;Ed Sheeran, in the video that takes us up to the release of the second Stormzy album, Heavy Is The Head, on December 13th.&nbsp;
